Title: Midlife guru breakdowns: Meadows, Danta, Paul Carter
Post by: BBSSchlemiel on February 26, 2020, 04:02:23 AM
All these gurus turning up the heat with TL;DR posts lately on social media, telling the gym world how it’s really supposed to be done. E-shouting to the world. Ya think it’s because after awhile there’s nothing to say?

I don't know about those specific guys but generally
people in these positions are narcissists who feel their opinion is so so important and everyone wants to hear it.
It gets a bit ridiculous at times.

I gotta say that Carter guy makes me laugh at times with his "insights" into relationships and love. It just seems so narcissistic when people act like they got everything figured out. First he's like Mr Sensitive and then Mr Tough Guy in his comment threads, lording over people with his superior training knowledge  :D

Yep he said it^

Severe narcissistic personality disorder in full effect.... Totally normal in the fitness industry though.

Danta said he’s been belaboring to people since 1989 that if they want to get big they need to progress in weight and reps. Don’t children know this?

Sometimes I wonder why this Carter guy keeps posting about success in relationships, as if it’s that complicated.

Paul Carter -

Never liked this guy. He used to post all that tough guy lifter horseshit on a board I used to read called "Power and Bulk", claiming to just be TRT doses, but the mgs he was on were much higher than most TRT programs I've ever seen  (400 + mg). Later, after he rode Jim Wendler's coat tails a bit, he did one power meet put up an average total, and blamed it on a torn hamstring, that magically healed up pretty fast.

Also used to short stroke his reps, then he'd cry if you called him out on it.

--------------------------

Don't mind Meadows, and he took being called a "Down Syndrome bodybuilder" in stride when he first came on the scene, so I give him some credit.

Dante is ok, but can be a little bitchy here and there.

Power and Bulk was indeed one of the best forums I ever read. Sad day when it finally ended.

It’s always been this way. Personal trainers  want to act like they’re reinventing wheel by doing some minor variation of exercises lifters have been doing forever. It’s a way to make yourself appear special.

I think most of these guys have run their course. (For many). The young/lazy twinks will seek them out, but thats "today" for ya.
No one will do this stuff on their own.

Step 1 - Order gear
Step 2 - Hire a coach to enter your first "Mr. Ab-Twink" contest.
Step 3 - Do what others tell you, even ingest dangerous drugs because they tell you to.

Backwards stuff.

Guys from the past who won huge pro shows didnt need or have guru's, its just not that hard.
