Has anyone heard this? Supposedly a nationwide curfew will be instituted tomorrow and the announcement for quarantine will be made Tuesday.
Who has sources?
-
Tell us who gave you this info.

It's going around Twitter, saying to look for the President to announce it mid week. So far, no real sources or posters of record are going with it. It's just a lot of "My brother's uncle's weed dealer has a sister that works in the Pentagon cafeteria, and she says they're hearing quarantine rumors....." type stuff mainly among young posters.

Sorry this "information" came from a family dinner conversation that "wasnt supposed to be shared" ::). My sister in law works for a VA hospital/some government medical entity and she heard it from a source high up who was very well connected that this was happening.
She couldn't name a name or answer why the federal government would try to take a states authority to mandate quarantine but that isnt suprising.

It's been crystal clear for at least a week that a shutdown is imminent.
They needed time to allow businesses to move their workforce to home.
Of course 'shut down' could take on multiple forms but over next quarter we should hit 'peak corona' and our normal lives will look out of sorts.
-
Yes I agree shutdowns are imminent and not just to get all ducks in a row.
They want a certain number to be infected first, a manageable number. If too few are infected then the disease won't go away and the next wave will hit harder. Too many infections and the system is overwhelmed. Expect a few weeks of shutdowns to become a regular thing for a few months. Timing the shutdowns right is crucial
Also pay no attention to the asian model, this won't work in the long term as all it needs is one infected person without symptoms or one asshole and they have another pandemic on their hands.

Can anyone explain to me how a nightly curfew would potentially limit the spread of the virus?
-
It's fake.

It only really works because there is a ban on other types of night life also. But there is a psychological component to it also. It helps people think of it as a serious thing, but not so serious that it causes a real panic.
People know there isn't any night life, there might be police interaction, etc.... so they are more likely to shave a little time off their daily public business.
A curfew is more like a soft quarantine.

Most countries have implemented a quarantine by now.
Supermarkets are crowded with people hoarding necessity goods.

I just drove by my local grocery store, and the parking lot was completely full. Legit, there might have been 5 open spots. I have never seen the parking lot even half full before.
I bought enough food on Sunday to last me a little over a month, so I'm hoping I'm good to go.

Doesn't limit exposure to anything, but it keeps everyone UNDER CONTROL/QUARANTINED!!!!
-
Hey Dave, I think you are absolutely correct.
I look for a nationwide quarantine to be in effect before the end of this week.

Official US response as of now, via the National Security Council -

Text message rumors of a national #quarantine are FAKE. There is no national lockdown.
@CDCgov has and will continue to post the latest guidance on #COVID19. #coronavirus

Granted, it could and probably will change, but that was the official word as of a few hours ago.
-
The gov'ment is changing strategy as things go.
I would not be surprised by a national quarantine.
Competitive bodybuilders and other people in essential occupations and Getbiggers would be exempt most likely.

From what I've gathered, IFBB pros in the top 15 will be exempt from any lock down procedures. They will have access through checkpoints by showing their IFBB cards. Granted, they will have to hit a few mandatories to properly verify identity, but should be able to go about their daily routine of lifting shit up followed by putting shit down, while consuming copious amounts of food in tupperware.
The IFBB is slowly gathering their information and will shortly have Bob Chick delivering the state of the bodybuilders union address.

I usually go to bed by 9PM but I could change to 8PM to comply with the quarantine.

There will be fully equipped gyms set up on military bases for IFBB pros and Getbiggers.
Camo workout attire required.

Bump for this post.
Models show either 1 or 2 peaks for infected.
Lots of infected then shutdown then open equals 1 peak.
Low infected then shutdown then open then reinfection shutdown then open equals 2 peaks with the 2nd peak being far worse.
Flexamatic is right. Monitor the trend and manage shutdown accordingly so you only do things once.

Flexacon hitting it on the nose again. Asians were feeling so proud about reducing the number of corona cases too.
The number of coronavirus cases has spiked across Asia, crushing hopes that the region had contained the outbreak.
