Someone once said, "Good things come with the bad!"
Or was it, "Good things come in small packages?"
Some smart GetBigges might recall who it was who said one of the above originally. ..... but you can include me out because I have no idea.
But one of the below simple facts might be considered to be 'good' and have only come about due this deadly pandemic.
1. Yosemite has only been closed to the public for about a month now but there are reports that the bears are having a hell of a good time shitting in the woods and have increased three-fold since us humans have departed.
How that bear population has increased so rapidly is beyond my understanding, but I'll take someone's word for it.
But it still doesn't answer that question I'm often asked, "Does a bear shit in the woods?" Or does a falling tree make a sound if there is no-one in those woods to hear it?
2. The Ozone Layer is improving. I know zilch about any ozone layer so I can't offer further comment. I have to assume that an improved Ozone Layer is good.
3. You can see blue skies over China now! I guess you could not see blue sky over China before this deadly virus. That sounds good to me.
4. You can now see the bottom of the Venice Canal. I'm hoping that one of you Venetians can take a picture of the bottom of that Venice Canal to prove that I'm not making this good shit up.
5. Gas prices are down to $2.08 a gallon here in Vegas. Good for me!
6. Smog in smoggy places is getting less smoggy. Can someone in Los Angeles verify this with a clear, blue, sky photo?
7. People who collect Social Security are dieing by the thousands which means fewer SS payments in the millions which solves a major SS financial problem. This may sound SICK, but it does sound good to me.
8. Some wise investors are (or will be) buying stock that will hit the bottom of the barrel until this pandemic 'starts to atop' and then turns them into billionaires over night. That sounds OK to me.
9. There will be no need to be courteous and shake the hand of new found friends any more. A simple nod or a courteous bow will henceforth suffice but a swift punch in the nose from a clean opponent could turn out to be 'nothing to worry about'. I've been punched more tha n once, but never by someone with a clean hand ... so that sounds good to me once I get punched again.
10. "Sex before marriage' will add the words "unless both parties pass a complete physical as specified by the AMA". Sexual orientation of either party will not be mentioned. (No decision on this one.)
11. Whorehouses throughout Nevada will become museums of past, long gone, whore house days. This may not be a good thing though.

Less drugs as nightclubs and bars are closed. Criminals will have to find other ways to make their money

The KKK must be celebrating that Corona kills only blacks
There had been this fear that aging baby boomers would soon be a huge burden on the system.
Significant reduction in the population of fatties.

If the Venice Canal cleared up, then anything is possible.

A lot of people will have young brothers/sisters 9 months from now...

Oh, I thought it was human feces.

I hope someone can confirm the Venice Canal story ... as that is what started this "thought" regarding the good that comes as a result of the bad.
Venice Canal photos would be appreciated.

I'm spending more time with my family.
I'm saving about 2 hours a day from daily commuting.
Since I'm working from home, I get to choose my own schedule.
More time for leisure activities.
Always an introvert, so not going out doesn't affect me one bit.

i doubt the ocean got bluer. I've read some ecosystems have had a chance to do some healing and baseball stadium grass has never looked better but I doubt those will last long term once things start to return to whatever is the new normal.
Hopefully a good thing will be in the future, people won't be as prone to wait until the government forces them to start implementing safety protocols before they do.

Hopefully this makes people more wary of the price of doing business with China and brings more manufacturing dependence back to the west...
If this was to happen it would be a massive gain worth more even than the cost of the loss of liberties at this time.

Wrong again.
Recreational drugs sales have gone stratospheric. A captive, fear ridden, bored population... drugs and alcohol to the rescue!

And I doubt the bear population has dramatically increased in the span of a few months. Just fake news. And who is up there counting the bears? Maybe the bears are coming out more since it's less crowded.
This is just more fake news to promote the agenda that human beings are the worse thing ever for the this planet and if we could just be rid of everybody except the anointed ones then this will be paradise.

Some people will believe anything.

Why is gas so cheap? Due to COVID 19? If so, why?

Why is gas so cheap? Due to COVID 19? If so, why?
There is a battle between Russia and Saudi Arabi about controlling oil supply.
All prices are determined simply determined by supply and demand. When the supply is great it drives prices down. Just the opposite when the supply is scarce. That is why businesses were able to charge higher prices for toilet paper and why some were hoarding not only for themselves but to sell.
That's the whole concept and problem with OPEC. They all get together to fix prices. This is called colluding which is illegal in the U.S. Business competitors can collude to fix prices by agreeing to control the supply and therefore the demand. The problem with this and Opec is the temptation to break from the pack. If we all agree to sell a certain product for $100 per item, if I secretly lower my price to $90 each everyone will buy from me and I more than make for that $10 loss through sheer volume.
With oil, coupled with the fact that Russia doesn't want to raise prices because they don't want to lose more sales, with the corona virus people are driving far less than they use it. Same with the airlines, ships, and trucks. So demand is going way down even more forcing prices down. I currently work for TD Ameritrade and many consider oil now to be a good investment. It's at the lowest price since the 50s and many believe that there is no way it's going to stay at $20 a barrel when the normal price is around $60/barrel going as high as $114/barrel.
There's a trade-off as with all things. That's good for the consumer but not for the oil and energy producers.
I minored in economics in college.

Actually, just the opposite. The demand has skyrocketed and consequently the price. Try ordering any exercise equipment on Amazon and they are sold out or over a month waiting.

Our dependence on Chinese goods will finally come to an end and mark a new beginning of “Made in America”.

Our dependence on Chinese goods will finally come to an end and mark a new beginning of “Made in America”.
We can only hope. I do think this has been a wake-up call to all American businesses to rethink outsourcing to China. And in return, our government has to provide incentives to businesses to make it easier and more affordable to keep things made in America.
It won't be easy but I'm hoping the whole country now realizes the damage China does to us on so many levels and willing to make sacrifices and pay the extra dollars out of love for our country and not support a country that has made the U.S. their number one enemy.
