Title: Coronavirus impact on next years flu season....
Post by: BEEFYHEAVYWEIGHT on April 16, 2020, 10:37:22 AM
So....do we see a drop in flu cases next winter due to most people being freaked the fuck out and more people than ever wearing bandana's and  medical style facemasks....like Asians have for years? Does this bring numbers way down next year? And how many of you plan on doing the same?

Yes it should.

And knowing that people can save lives by staying home more, wash their hands better one has to wonder how many lives couldve been saved before

If so many die by the flu, why doesnt society do anything to prevent that from happening?

Flu number are down 75% here this season already.....

In Aus we have 60 deaths, so net loss of life is an improvement Given drop in the flu numbers.

Also remember especially in USA that many flu deaths will be attributed to coronavirus as CDC cook the books on coronavirus stats with their recommendations on attributing a COD to the coronavirus doesn't even need a positive test result.

The concern I have with wearing a face mask is that people never have the opportunity to build up an immunity to these viruses. Once the mask comes off, they are more susceptible to contracting every germ that comes withing 20 feet of them. Masks are not a remedy. Vaccines may be though. Often the vaccine only controls the intensity of a virus, like the flu. People still get it. But, when they do, they don't get deathly sick.

Ask people whose professions put them in greater contact with a variety of contagious illnesses, such and nurses, doctors and folks working in childhood education, what their first year in the job was like and many will tell you they got sick a lot more often then they had previously. Second year....their immunity becomes much greater to most illnesses except something like COVID - 19 which has not be around long enough for people to have built up an immunity to it.

So if you are still wearing a mask when this particular situation is resolved, you better never take it off when you are around other people, including family because there is a much greater chance you are going to get sick.

Not everyone gets vaccines due to laziness and a lack of scientific knowledge.
