"The anger came from employees who’d determined they’d make more money by collecting unemployment benefits than their normal paychecks."

I received mine yesterday. And, I don’t know why she just doesn’t not pay them? There’s a cap on the loan at 25% for rent and utilities. So that part doesn’t get forgiven ever. The part that gets forgiven is the payroll. If they don’t want the money, don’t pay them. There is no prepayment penalty for the loan and it’s only on a two year amortization schedule with a six month deferral. You’re going to have to pay rent etc anyway so just let them Ben laid off, give the payroll money back to Uncle Sam, and be done with it. ???

The increased unemployment by the Feds might back fire on the government. A lot of people might not want to go back to work. A monthly stimulus check might have been a better way to go, that way people can go back to work even if it is with reduced hours.

Doesn't this all end July 25th or so? I think the governments intention with the stimulus was also to encourage people to stay home until the peak passes so if they refuse to return before July 25th that isn't a bad thing right?

It will crush the economy and destroy more lives that the virus if this was to go on that long.

I got called back by my employer as well. I don't want to go back but not because of not wanting to work. I would rather accept the "consequences" of being on unemployment while I look for another due to the nature of the job and how horrendous it was before as far as back-up/stress and now having a month off it is going to be even worse plus they provide no work from home capabilities.

Some States are opening up slowly, but will people go back to work is the big question.

It was more of an update so I phrased that a little badly. They said loan will come through around May 4th, so I'll be looking between now and then to see what I can do in the meantime.

This is what the leftists dream of, more on the dole.

would you agree "destroy" in the context of a financial hardship and death are not the same thing?

I would say the destruction caused by a collapsed economy would be far worse than the deaths of a million people. I know it’s harsh, but there really is no “feel good” way out of this. That is unless, all debt payments get frozen for as long as the lockdown lasts.

Ok, I will respect your opinion. We can certainly disagree on this. It's a philosophical difference and in the scheme of things, I can't say with certainty I am on the right side of it.

There are lots of links like this that show that the way they handled the "cure" will be much worse.

We can resurrect the economy (see Obama circa 2009-2010). We cannot resurrect the dead. Pro-life should also apply to the born.

That's not a crazy position.. unless you really think the dead can be resurrected but then.. who is crazy enough to belive that? ;D
