Post by: Ron on May 11, 2020, 08:11:25 AM
The Olympia is postponed, moved from September 2020 to December 16th, 2020, and also a new venue and hotel, Planet Hollywood Hotel with the Zappos Theater in Las Vegas

They are bringing the Olympia back to the Las Vegas strip!

The Zappos Theater (formerly The AXIS and Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts) is a mid-sized auditorium located at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip. The venue hosts a variety of events from charity benefits, concerts and award shows. It is used frequently for the beauty pageants: Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. From 2013 to 2017, the auditorium was the home to Britney Spears's concert residency 'Piece of Me' and Justin Timberlake's annual concert to benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children. In 2011, it was voted as one of the "Best Concert Halls & Theaters In Las Vegas". It can have an audience of 7,000 people.

We created this page in an effort to answer some of the most common questions concerning the Olympia’s big move to Planet Hollywood in December on the Las Vegas Strip.

Q: I’ve already purchased a 2020 VIP package for September, and confirmed my seating arrangements. Will my same seat(s) be assigned in the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood in December?

A: The seating layout for the Orleans Arena & Zappos theater are different, but your new seating assignment will be as close to your original one as possible. A seating map of the Zappos Theater and your new seating assignment will be emailed to you by the end of June.

Q: I’ve already purchased a 2020 VIP package for September, but I cannot attend in December. How and when can I get a refund?

A: You can request a refund by sending an email to VIP@MrOlympia.com after June 30th and before August 31st. Your refund will then be processed within 7-10 business days of when it is received. This process has been mandated by our credit card processor so we thank you in advance for your understanding.  All refund requests received between June 30th and August 31st will be processed.

Q: I would like to purchase a VIP package for the 2020 Olympia in December. How and when can I do that?

A: The seating map for the Zappos Theater, and VIP package purchase buttons, will be live and activated via this link https://mrolympia.com/vip-package on or before June 1st. VIP availability is limited, and orders will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.

Hmmmm. Isn't the theater in Planet Hollywood a lot smaller than the one at the Orleans?

I wonder why they didn't just leave it at the Orleans? It's cool it's not cancelled but now it's awfully close the the Arnold. I wonder if that is better for the athletes diet. I would think they'd like a bigger break in between the two shows.

I'll be keeping my eye on updates.

I like the Olympia being on the strip though.

New dates will be announced for the 2020 Olympia come Monday morning

The 2020 Mr. Olympia will be moving to a new date and venue, details Monday morning.

Who wants to go around Christmas? Marketing is piss poor. Didn't even get my request for my usual VIP tickets this year. After Dallas and Luke, the rest don't matter. Bodybuilding is dead! You just watch. Only positive thing is they moved it out of that shithole Orleans.
Around the Christmas holidays?? Lol. Merry Corona!!!

Actually I like the timing. It's cold where I live and Vegas is a nice change of weather not to mention I would think it would be a little slower and less expensive.

Two Las Vegas Strip Hotel Room Rates for the Olympia as of  15 May, 2020

4 nights PLANET HOLLYWOOD
$600 +/- (Includes room with one queen bed/tax/resort fees)

4 nights FLAMINGO
$440 +/- (Includes room with one queen bed/tax/resort fees4 nights

Above figures are approximates and are subject to change.

But if you plan to be in Vegas for the Oly, I recommend that you book early and make sure that there is NO cancellation fee.

Ask about parking fees as they are not included.

LV hotel room rates can change on a daily basis. If the demand increases, the nightly rates follows  ...  so the above rates will change.

I got to give Dan Solomon credit for addressing Kai Greene in his interview with Palumbo. Saying he's being disrespectful to the fans by constantly teasing them the last couple years by trolling them in his videos.

Kai is trying hard to stay in the spotlight and remain relevant but the truth is he's done. He'll never make it in Hollywood like he wants and his philosophical rantings are nonsensical and stupid. He tries hard to portray a certain image but fails miserably. He's nothing without bodybuilding and I think he's starting to realize that.

Followers dont equate to fans, hell look at Luke's GoFundMe,  he has 250k followers and only 2,000 people donated to it. Look at Kais likes on his pics average likes are between 40-80k that also says a lot, for 6 million followers and such a small like ratio things aren't adding up.

They use to have Maria Ibarra doing VIP tickets. Since she left the Olympia fell apart. She would always contact the previous VIP ticket holders and have them advance pay for the same or better seats for the event. Since she left- no contact initiated to previous subscribers.
The Orleans was a 'pit'. Always stayed at Cosmo. While PH may provide a more upscale venue, the poor marketing, lack initiating prior contact with previous subscribers, and advent of Covid19 reinforces the notion that the Olympia is a thing of the past. Doubtful it will recover financially.

USMC, You offer some valid reasons for the possible failure of this year's Olympia, but if you do turn out to be correct .... I think it will be temporary and that next year's Olympia will be a big success...... if this pandemic subsides.

How do you feel about the forthcoming Wayne Johnson event? The ICON.

I personally think that the "ICON" (?) will be a major success if the WME continues to be involved providing that they provide some opportunities for the event contenders to be represented by their agents in major motion pictures.

That could possible start off with WME representative contracts with the female fitness competitors ... most of whom are more 'beautiful' than the female stars of today.

If I was Dwayne .... I would encourage that 100%.

And Dwayne will most likely offer a few contenders the opportunity participate within some minor roles of his own motion picture/TV series ... which I am surprised that Arnold never did ... of which I could be mistaken.

And it could even be possible to see future Super-Heros looking like some of the original comic book artists intended.

If worked right ... this WME involvement could be a major boost within the bodybuilding world and to a good number of those who participate within it ... meaning contenders and those who officiate within it.

PS... WME (William Morris Endeavor) is the major, world-wide company whose agents represent top personalities within the motion picture, music, and sporting world .... among other endeavors!

Let me add the following .... Does anyone have a crystal ball to foresee the future possibilities???

"Talent representation and sports marketing giant IMG Worldwide has been sold to entertainment talent agency William Morris Endeavor Entertainment (WME) for a reported US$2.3 billion.

Beverly Hills-based WME, which is best known for representing Hollywood A-Listers such as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, is 31 per cent owned by private equity firm Silver Lake Partners. Alongside WME and Silver Lake, Mubadala Development Company is a minority investor in the transaction.

"IMG has incredible strategic value to WME," said the company's co-chief executives Patrick Whitesell and Ariel Emanuel. "The brand's global reach, outstanding management team and leadership across sports, fashion and media are a strong complement to our business."

It’s great that it was rescheduled. Will there be an audience? With so much uncertainty due to coronavirus, I can’t see it filling many seats. For one, I don’t even have a date here in Australia when international travel will resume. It’s so close to Christmas too. But I think it’s great that the athletes can still compete. It will just be a very different Olympia.

BIGMIKE, You'll find the closest DISPENSARY a short distance from PH  by turning left outside of the hotel/casino and take a short walk down the Strip in a southerly direction. There is a 3 story building on the NE corner of Harman and the Strip.

That is the building with the huge' huge electric billboard stretching around the building.

Take the exterior escalator to the 2nd floor and turn left into the BUBBA GUMP's entry-way and if you look easily enough ... you'll see a 10 X 10 foot MJ Dispensary that offers everything you ever wanted MJ wise!

I have not been there since this virus but it should be in operation now or by the Oly event.

AND .... if you cross over to the SE corner, you should find a second dispensary at the bottom of the escalator in what used to be part of the old Harley Davidson Cafe.

I suggest you try the Chocolate Bar .... most recently priced at $40.

Or if you're broke ... just walk down the STRIP and breathe deeply.

I save my 'drug money' for the tables ..... so that seems to work pretty damn well for me.

One last suggestion ... Have a meal or two in ELLIS ISLAND on Koval almost directly behind PH. The Fish and Chips and the Roast Beef are better and cheaper than any place on the Strip (Open 24 hours).

And for the best ribs in town ....... They are served in ELLIS from 4:30 to 10:00 PM.

Have fun, get high, get loaded, and enjoy the OLY.

PS ... If you are the type of guy who enjoys  "punch in the nose" type bars, you should visit the STAGE DOOR Bar on Flamingo. It's usually pretty mild but sometimes it gets out  of hand.

Damn cheap drinks And the ladies behind the bar are pretty daMN ATTRACTVE.

Oh God...leave it to a moron like you to be scared of a virus that 99.99% of the globe's population hasn't died from.  I can't imagine if people like you ran the show.  I'd say a whole lot more to you if I wasn't at risk of being banned from it - but you definitely are a Karen.

Covid rates are dropping in the US, at least the death rates are, and hopefully, they will let expos and audiences into indoor arenas.  I think they are making protocols for the required ventilation, and also not seating next to each other, and perhaps, still wearing a mask.

Audience will come, Vegas hotel occupancy on the weekends right now is 30%, with it only increasing.

The Olympia will be held via webcam. If only Dennis James, and King Kamali were able to do this they could have been crowned Olympias.

You can watch the event live at Planet Hollywood via closed circuit tv with free commentary from Bob Chick, Shawn Ray, and ad libs by Arnold.
