Title: two charts
Post by: Straw Man on May 08, 2020, 12:39:29 PM
South Korea and the United States both had their first official coronavirus case on the same day (that we knew of at the time)

South Korea's leaders acted swiftly and aggressively to detect and isolate the virus and within a week of its first confirmed case, South Korea’s disease control agency had summoned 20 private companies to the medical equivalent of a war-planning summit and told them to develop a test for the virus at lightning speed. A week after that, the first diagnostic test was approved and went into battle, identifying infected individuals who could then be quarantined to halt the advance of the disease.

Let's see how that's worked out

The other country was led by a FUCKING MORON who attempted to employ his usual tactics

1. Totally ignore the problem even after being repeatedly warned
2. Continue to ignore the problem but started downplaying it
3. Starting the next phase of his standard opertating procedure which is lie about it and attempt to ridicule his political opponents
4.  This is the rarely seen stage where he is forced to acknowledge the problem but continue to lie and do nothing
5.  More doing nothing while lying about doing something and also adding in complaining about how people aren't praising him enough
6.  More lies, boredom, stupid suggestions such as injecting yourself with household cleaner
7.  Whine and complain some more while still doing nothing
8.  Provide protocols for when the country can open and then immediately ignore those protocols and suppress additional protocal by the CDC
9.  Suggest that your citizens become "warriors" and expose themselves to a potentially deadly disease in order to prop up your increasingly dismal politicla prospects

and here is the result of that "plan"

We're going to continue having a 1000+ people dying from this every day until Trumptard finally figures out that we need NATIONAL PLAN for TESTING, ISOLATION (for positive tests) and CONTACT TRACING

That's the only way to get a handle on this thing

There are now saliva test approved by the FDA which does not require medical personal in PPE to administer.

These tests should be available FREE OF CHARGE in every pharmacy in every Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, etc all over the country

Everyone who wants to work, go to the gym, restaurant, etc.. needs to get tested once a month (i.e spit in a cup) and probably makes sense to do a forehead temperature check for anyone entering a gym, restaurant, etc..

Losing what?

Dems won the last two elections and are very likely to win the next one

Other than that I'm doing fine

I've worked the entire time (made over 20k in April) and built a decent home gym in my garage

Name one conspiracy theory that the left has perpetrated that hasn't blown up their faces? The elections? hahaha, nothing like passing a ballot harvesting bill with republicans not involved. You actually think the left can win on ANY issue? Now they want mail-in voting...why? because they know they can't win.

South Korea is not similar to the USA in any way.

It is run like a totalitarian country.

Thus it is simple for them to command the people to do whatever is required.

Americans are independent and don't like to be told what to do.  They resist complying with orders and question everything.

This has been quite evident with the many instances of Americans refusing to comply with social distancing.

Straw, you should move to South Korea and live there and you'll be safe from Covid-19 and you can be a robot who follows orders.

South Korea is a not a totalitarian country

They also didn't have to shut down their country

Isn't that the ONE THING that everyone here is bitching about.

We locked down but didn't do ANYTHING else and we have over a million verified cases and approaching 100k in death

So... nationwide testing, isolation and contact tracing with NO LOCKDOWN and they have 256 deaths in the entire country

The CDC fucked up the creation of the tests.

That was a major contributor.

But the Feb "lost month" is hindsight.  On March 2, there were 100 cases in the US.  A lockdown would have been impossible, and completely fought by the Democrats.

Plus, Fauci and Birx were not suggesting we close at this time at all.

The Barack Oblowjob deep state Dem cawksuckers get caught in the act of treason.

So all of a sudden the Covid-19 response is of interest to the dullest knives in the drawer.

Trump's response to this pandemic has been 1000 times better than any blue-state, shriveled dick liberal POS governor. America will return to work well ahead of the rest of the world and the economy will roar back to record levels all because of President Donald Trump's historic leadership.

Democrats will be looking at a 2020 election where their senile serial sexual assaulter candidate is facing rape, bribery, and perjury charges on the day of the first Presidential debate. Trump's win will be by a historic margin, paving the way for eight years of a Trump Jr. presidency.

I hear it every day. We need to test 500 million a day. We need to have contact tracing. Ok, what does that look like? Think about what would go into contact tracing each case of COVID,, is it even possible at this national level or is it just a good bumper sticker slogan?

Spending rose to $4.0 trillion or 20.8% GDP in FY2017, the last year budgeted by President Obama. The budget deficit reached 9.9% GDP in 2009, before minimally recovering to 2.1% GDP by 2015, below the historical average (1970–2015) of 2.8% GDP.

During the Obama Administration there were 3 million more people on unemployment than there were available jobs.

During the Trump Administration there are over 2 million more jobs available than people looking for work.

It took a global pandemic and failed gubernatorial policies by blue state to governors to finally slow the Trump economy down to the level of eight years of the failed Obama economic disaster.

It was a sincere question.  I want to know - I don’t blindly follow either party.

Feb. 11

At a WHO briefing, Tedros urged world leaders to give priority to containing the virus: "To be honest, a virus is more powerful in creating political, economic and social upheaval than any terrorist attack. A virus can have more powerful consequences than any terrorist action, and that's true. If the world doesn't want to wake up and consider this enemy virus as Public Enemy Number 1, I don't think we will learn our lessons."

Feb. 13

In an interview with Geraldo Rivera, Trump characterized the threat of the virus in the U.S. by saying: "In our country, we only have, basically, 12 cases, and most of those people are recovering and some cases fully recovered. So it's actually less."

Feb. 24

In a tweet, Trump wrote, "The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!"

Feb. 26

In a news conference, Trump said: "When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that's a pretty good job we've done."

Feb. 28

The WHO raises the global risk of the coronavirus from "high" to "very high."

February 28, Trump said that coronavirus will “disappear” like a “miracle” while speaking at a press conference for his coronavirus task force. On Tuesday, he told reporters on Capitol Hill that coronavirus “will go away.” In late February, he speculated that warm weather would kill the virus and stop its spread. None of these statements are backed by science or infectious disease experts within his own administration.

March 4 phone call with Hannity, Trump compared coronavirus with the flu. He mentioned that the flu kills anywhere between 27,000 and 77,000 people every year, implying that coronavirus isn’t as serious of a threat to public health as Influenza.
Trump’s own infectious disease experts have said that idea is wrong. Dr. Fauci told Congress on March 11 that “the mortality of [Covid-19] is multiple times what the seasonal flu is.”

etc etc...

Dr. Fauci told Congress on March 11 that “the mortality of [Covid-19] is multiple times what the seasonal flu is.”

etc etc...

Sorry I gave that impression. I don't interact with you very often and assumed you were asking in the vein of "Can you give an example of a time when Trump lied" kind of thing. In those cases, I could list 20 examples of lies and it would be dismissed out of hand. I apologize for the lack of response

It's fine man, no apologies necessary.

I think big tech and a dishonest media are bigger threats than whichever political party is in office, and I don't agree with everything the administration does, but I've found myself becoming more and more anti democrat.  I think they've lost their way with the ultra progressiveness and anti-Trump obsession, which is how we ended up with Biden  as the nominee.

Back to that timeline, there were 100 cases in the US on March 2.  Shutdown was impossible, nor was it suggested at the time by Fauci and Birx. I don't know what people think was supposed to be the correct course of action.

I personally am not drove up about Trumps initial response. I wasn't privy to his daily briefings from intel so I don't know how much more information he had than I did. But even I knew those 15 cases weren't going to be zero at that point.

This is were I go back to rhetoric vs action.

He's overly optimistic - it fits his personality and desire to "fix" and be the Man.  It didn't dictate his actions.  For example he SAID "I'd think opening by Easter would be idea"....but he didn't lift the lockdown based on the advice from the medical community.

I'm over nitpicking his style at this point.  It is what it is and it's not changing.  The best way I saw it put was this:  His detractors take him literally, while his supporters take him seriously.
