I'm surprised that didn't happen years ago with all the other supplement companies out there today.

I also heard AMC movie theaters is in trouble and Amazon is looking to buy them.  AMC is owned by a Chinese company called the Wanda Group.

Don't know how they survived this long. Should have been closed over a decade ago.

Convenience is a big thing.  A lot of people just want to run in and get something and run out.

The company posted a net loss of $200 million during the first quarter, compared with a loss of $15 million during the same three months last year.

I used to shop religiously at GNC 10-20 years ago. Since then I have moved on to Vitamin Shoppe and they are great IMO.

I only bought the vanilla flavor.  :-\
I seem to recall they eventually came out with Mega Mass 4000; I used to see the ads in FLEX.  I never tried it.

Went into a GNC about 3-4 years ago while in a local mall. Left wondering how long they could last. The internet and bad marketing/business model killed GNC, not Covid.

This! They must’ve also ran out of naive high schoolers and grandmas to prey on.

Mega Mass 2000 came in a bag that looked like a feed bag for livestock.  I gained weight from drinking all those shakes probably because I didn't shit for a week.  That stuff was like liquid concrete.

It was the same thing as Mega Mass 2000 just an extra scoop and whole milk instead of water.   I know that they later changed their formula due to people complaining it would not mix well.

I believe in the beginning it actually came in a plastic bucket with plastic top on it.  I may be wrong and thinking of something else back then.

GNC holds a soft spot in my heart as part of general weightlifting nostalgia.  Never really shopped at one, but their constant presence was comforting.

GNC parent company files for bankruptcy protection, plans to permanently close up to 1,200 stores

GNC Holdings Inc., parent company of health and wellness retailer GNC, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection late Tuesday and said it plans to close “at least 800 to 1,200 stores.”

The Pittsburgh-based chain, which had approximately 5,200 retail locations in the U.S. and 7,300 locations globally as of March 31, said the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the need to file for bankruptcy protection after being under "financial pressure for the past several years."

I'm surprised they don't close them all.  Those chain stores are going extinct fast.
