Yeah good timing for him. His show/format has become a bit stale so cashing before it falls off a cliff was a smart move.

Rogan was anti-Spotify until a $100 million deal: https://twitter.com/brendaschwaub/status/1263049335782232064 (https://twitter.com/brendaschwaub/status/1263049335782232064)
Anyone here use Spotify? Sounds very corporate and about occupying your time listening to millionaire musicians who work for billionaire companies.

People are allowed to change their minds when offered new information, no?
I have Spotify but I use it for the music. It’s $10 a month and when I first subscribed it was a better option than $10 per album download. I guess it depends on what music you have and what new music you want.
The podcasts being exclusive is interesting but content is king for all platforms. People pay for all types of media, Satellite radio, Netflix, HBO, Patreon, Cameo, etc....
It will be interesting to see the future of charging for podcasts is the future.

I wonder what the back end looks like, stuff like the back catalog, his appearances on other shows, etc..... It was a good move, but I have absolutely no want to follow it on spotify, the convenience of clicking a youtube link out of boredom was one of the main attractions.

Rogan is a little troll and as a comedian he sucks.Tried watching a couple of his specials recently and made it a few minutes and had to stop them both.Either way good for him.Im not jealous just don’t care for him.He was good on news radio many years ago.

Shark jumped. I like the podcast....for the interesting guests though - you have to hand it to him for that much.
If you want to know where Rogan got all of his comedy act just watch Doug Stanhope once.

Rogan's cool....built a brand, and now he's getting paid for it. I don't agree with all his stuff, but that's true for most folks.
Good for him.
In addition, the company he co owns, Onnit is a cool company and have read about its founder and his way. He's a little kooky but at least he's trying/doing stuff, and making bank.

Does this mean he won't be on Youtube anymore?

JRE videos were/are being becoming increasingly demonetized on Youtube, along with many Youtube channels, as Youtube continues to abandon the "you" in Youtube and moves towards prioritizing corporate programming. With many new speech restrictions, Youtube is not a safe or stable platform for Rogan and others. Youtube practices selective enforcement and Joe's already published speech that went against Youtube's terms of service. I've read or heard that Spotify has been courting him for a while, and finally a 9 figure deal plus Youtube's instability for creators has apparently forced his hand.
Personally, I'm against financially supporting corporate news or entertainment and don't pay for cable/Netflix, etc.... I do pay to support people's Youtube, etc... channels and websites whose messages I want to promote. My main concern is continuing to allow non-corporate entities to express themselves, and not in a vacuum, which was Youtube's initial appeal. I'm not for a handful of corporations providing most news, entertainment, and thought.

100 Mill USD can change you from being ANTI-SPOTIFY to PRO! :D

I hope Stockholm-based Spotify gives you your cut.
