I let myself go a bit, and am currently losing weight but want to know is the back fat/love handle area the last to go? I stopped working out regular/eating right and got to a hair over 260 by January of this year. Started working out again and then covid happened so it hindered the weight loss. I started intermittent fasting in March and beginning of this month riding my wife’s Peleton 20-30 minutes every morning and doing some lightweight/body weight exercises. I’m down to 243 today and am trying to get to sub 235 by July 1 when I leave for vacation. I can see progress, especially in how my pants fit now, but am noticing the back fat spilling over my underwear a bit. I have never been that heavy or out of shape before, so I had no clue the damage I was doing, so I’ve never really felt with this before. Is this the last area to go when dieting, or are we all different? I could not care less about a six pack as long as I had a flat stomach and no backfat. Any exercises help with that area? Thanks.

Last to go, chubby. ;D

Science tells us that fat uniformly decreases with fat loss. My personal experience is my face loses fat first. I saw a video where Danny Paddila said the same thing. Maybe your back fat is the last to leave.
-
Your body puts fat on your midsection first and then works it way to the extremities. This is an evolutionary development since your midsection is your center of gravity and is a balance point. As you get heavier you will then notice fatter arms, legs etc.
Conversely as you lose weight you will see changes first at the extremities. In my case, I get more vascular in the calves and forearms first, then working slowly to the midsection.
There are some people that tend to retain fat in their faces until they are very lean. I'm one of them.
So just keep on keeping on. Your will lose weight around your waist eventually :)
-
So by retaining fat in your face does that mean from an evolutionary perspective you're protected when you fall on your face?

Yeah, something like that.

Some studies have shown that holding fat in stubborn areas regardless of the area is a matter of insulin sensitivity and adjusting your diet to suit YOUR body type. As I got older my (like you) lower back is always the last to go before a show as well as my scap/sub scap
-
"My wife's peleton".
You ain't foolin anyone buddy. 8) ;D
Like others have said it's probably just the last area to lean out on you.

Get liposuction.

If nothing else, food for thought:

I think Lonnie Lowery, maybe someone else, had a list of foods that may cause people to hold fats in different areas.
plus there's some science behind "coolsculpt" or using ice in specific areas but could be dangerous and/or unpredictable results.
also, most people mainly train obliques to "mitigate" the appearance of(not spot reduce)in that area but most of that "side handle" fat is covering gluteus medius, which most people never train directly.

Coach could be on to something here.

Yeah last to go for many men. Myself included can have veins in my abs and still some noticeable “love handle” fat/water.
-
If you have always been in shape and never hit 260 before it should go quickly.
-
. Any exercises help with that area?

I should have said insulin sensitivity in certain areas.

Up the Cytomel obviously ::)

Why stop at 260, hit 310 pounds

Estrogenic fat, try letro and see what happens. A friend of mine used to own a supp company that made a topical yohimbine product called yohimburn, it was pretty effective as well.

Is that stuff still around? A buddy used it about 15 years ago when we were in college with decent results. I used something around that time called “Camphibolic” that was the best fat burner I’d used. USP Labs made it but I think it’s been discontinued for quite some time.

Covid-19 is a proven way to lose excess fat.

semen, after your bf unloads on your back tell him to rub it in. scientifically proven to have localized thermogenic effects

Asking how remove fat from specific body area as distinct from reducing fat
them is the sort of questions and articles that keep gay spornosexual "Mens Health in business
My initial question in the post was if the back fat was the last to go, not really how to get rid of it and nowhere else.

Again, see my above response to BBC. I didn’t want your personal experience on how to lose it. Keep that shit to yourself.

I'd hit it.

low back is the last place to come off for me, abs paper thin legs shredded, low back still soft and watery,
-
Are your love handles cold? Mine are very cold even after training, someone posted a t-nation article, they mention circulation problems, I think it makes sense, sometimes a do cardio wearing a belt.
-
15 weeks out. Weighed in at 224 today at 8.2%. Holding mostly in my low back and lower abs. Diet breakdown is 45/40/15. It will probably stay that way until about 5 weeks out. If I’m still holding in those stubborn spots carbs will remain the same. What will change will be the types of vegetables and switching to lower glycemic carbs. As of now, I’m waaaaaaay ahead of schedule

Have to look into this.. I could run a marathon in 100 degree heat wearing a fur coat, feel my love handles and they are like ice cubes..lol
-
Lower back has always been the last area for me also. Also have overdeveloped obliques which doesn't help especially after 50.
-
Have any of you guys considered cool sculpting? If it visibly takes fat off of undisciplined fat fuckers I imagine it would work really well to take off the last few pounds of fat for those on bodybuilding diets.

Genetics will dictate, but yeah it'll be a late departure. If I'm being dickish honest, you'll probably never get rid of it altogether unless you change what you're used to being. Being lean means being small for anyone who isn't juiced or dna elite. Your strength/ bodyweight ratio improves and its fun to look in the mirror but barbell lifts fall and you're gone in clothes that don't cling. Lifters generally dont like that. Big guys freak out and feel like they're disapearing long before they get lean.
I have a bud who isn't going to be called for any underwear photoshoots but dude's strong as an ox. Told me his wife was complaining at him. I advised him to remind her she married a big strong guy because she likes big strong guys. You can move heavy things and rule a brawl. Big and strong works. It's just not in fashion. As long as you're healthy, who cares if Mens Health isn't going to put you on the cover.
I like being lean because I'm vain but it's not like there's no downside. I have no illusions that dude wouldn't just ragdoll me if he took a mind to.
Fwiw, I like low carb and believe protein should be higher while in calorie debt. Even a pound per week is too fast imo but I don't know about losing while at high bodyweight.

What about wrestlers, boxers and MMA fighters that cut weight fast? Isn't that a faster and more efficient way to lose weight?

Idk. I just figure a calorie debt of 3500/week is aggressive enough. Push too hard without anabolics and lose muscle, and I sure can't afford that.
Granted, guys at higher weight seem to be able to lose far more than 1 lb a week, so there goes my theory. I'm guessing the body is more willing to let go what's abundant, but losses slow or become more muscle costly as composition changes. Nobody just crashes down to ripped in 5 pound steps. My pound a week max theory is probably more a reflection of my condition. Reasonably lean but nothing to write home about. Someone in better shape might claim a half or quarter pound a week is all they can expect without muscle loss.
Isn't fight weight cut mostly a dehydration thing? I wouldn't follow those protocols. The opposite. Drink plenty of water. Eat boring food frequently and ignore the scale for at least a couple weeks. Fuck the scale. Haven't been on one in years. The mirror and my shitty shitty lifts are better info.
-
Chicken & salad & water............have fun and eat a can of tuna here and there straight out da can just to remind yourself that you`re dedicated.
Insulin sensitivity, spot reduction, the last place on your body to lose fat..................... .BULLSHIT.......... just eat what I posted above and do cardio 6 days a week............BE SERIOUS !

Most guys who do cut weight gain it back but you don't have to do that if you just slowly increase cals after the cut. Personally, I prefer to get it done quick and then maintain as opposed to losing 1lb a week. One screw up and you have no gains for the week. The motivation of seeing the lbs melt off fast keeps you going as well.

Personally if I were the OP I`d get to a weight where I looked good no matter what the scale says and I`d stay there by training hard eating right, and being consistant.
Nobody said it was gonna be easy ........calories in versus calories out ........it`s far from rocket science.

Might just be me. I struggle for the muscle, bro. Couple days of too much work & not enough food, come leg day I'm wondering where the fuck my squat went. I don't lift because I'm good at it. It's because these genetics fucking have to.

I weighed in at 242 today and I’m thinking I’ll have to be around 223-225 to see what I want to. I haven’t been under 228 in six years (except when I got sick two years ago) but looked decent. I feel like now I may be holding more muscle than I did then so it may look better at the same weight. Or, maybe it’s been so long since is was lean, that I really don’t know how much you have to cut down to “see it”. Been doing 20-30 minutes on the Peleton six days a week for four weeks and I really think that’s helping along with the MyFitnessPal app that keeps my in check. Staying at 2400 calories with the exercise. Come June 1 I’ll cut to 2,200 a day and then the last week of June crash to 1,800 day.

Bro get on a good solid clean eating regimen train with some intensity and vwalk on an inclined treadmill for 16-20 weeks straight.
THIS WILL WORK FOR ANYONE!!!!
Trust me I`m not expecting you to train like Ronnie Coleman or run for miles a day or eat like a concentration camp victim .......just try my suggestions.
Better yet PM me a typical days eating regimen for you,how you train and how often, and what type of cardio you do if any, and I`ll help you get into great shape in no time flat.......BUT you have to put in the work and dump the sweat and do it as a lifestyle not for just a week or two.
-
Calories in calories out obviously. But some general things that drops fat fast.
-HIIT
-lower carbs and fats
-if that doesnt get you down try put in some fasting here and there
Personally I just lower my carbs and fats and that gets me down fast. If I do my general program of about 4x weights a week and 3x HIIT workouts a week.
-
Split your back training into two different workouts.
One heavy/lower reps and one lighter/higher reps.
The lighter one may help/create a localized burning of body fat.
Variety of exercises... from traps on down.
Eat an extra protein meal on the heavy day back workout.
Limit your carbs to the absolute minimum you can tolerate.
