For those who forgot, Independence Day is the USA is when the USA commemorated the Declaration of Independence of the United States, on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject (and subordinate) to the monarch of Britain, King George III, and were now united, free, and independent states. Independence Day is the national day of the United States
And what the USA stands for, people forget, for good or bad
Amendment I -Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Don't see why you would be wishing a happy 4th to anyone...unless ironically

Well true, if you live in the USA, correct, Happy 4th of July. Other countries have their own independence day holiday.
But why not? For someone that has been around the world, and has seen how many other countries are, we still live in a country where you can protest, debate, practice your own religion, and basically have the best rights in the world, although of course, you will always have a faction that wants to destroy it. Bottom line is that 90% of people want to be equal, live in peace and enjoy, although it seems that a ton of stories only show you the sensationalism of the media, not many of the actual people who just don't want to deal with this craziness, and just enjoy life

Agree. Warts and all, I always am proud to be here. Plus our economy and inventiveness remain number 1. If there is a vaccine on the horizon, high likelihood our scientists may be involved.

With the way things have been turning out, especially in 2020, does anyone have a happy 4th?
What is there to celebrate?

Independence from the British empire? :D

As I recall it had something to do with onerous taxation while not having one's interests represented in the slightest by the government. Glad we got that sorted out.

My family, my friends, my job, and the ability to debate and discuss issues here on all sides, and also know that I love living in America, who for the most part, has some incredible good people, who do care, on all sides! 2020 is a very tough year, no doubt about that. But one thing I have learned, that you can argue and debate with people, and still learn and evolve!

I'd behave as a moderate in some countries other than the US.
