The hydroxy is not clear, there have been multiple studies showing no benefit and worse cardiac outcomes, the recent study showed some benefit when taken early but that was an outlier study. I think he heard it might be helpful and it looks like its not really all that helpful, possibly harmful and maybe spoke to soon. This wouldn't be uncommon in laymen though, usually drugs need many many studies to tell. I do agree people jumping on him for it were also jumping the gun but its not a panacea and recently the WHO has stopped research on it along with a few other drugs.
The UV thing also has evidence for viruses but the way he said it was the problem there. It's not something that feasible for a bunch of reasons with such a widespread illness and there is little to no data on it.
I dislike trump but I don't necessarily disagree with you, if he was saying it in a misguided effort to provide comfort then thats fine, if he is saying it for self-serving reasons I have serious concerns.
I dont think he was right about either because there isn't a right or wrong here imo.

I have seen this, there is conflicting data now, the timing of dosing is likely correct. this study does negate the ones that found no benefit and worsening cardiac outcomes, medicine doesn't work like that. This is a nice sign it might help but even with dexmethasone we can't jump the gun despite some positive studies. Way more data is needed, age groups, timing of dosage, health status etc.
Vitamin D status is crucial for no getting severe symptoms it appears.

Fauci is correct, you don't jump all over one study, even the negative ones. This is why many studies are needed for any drug, to reduce atypical results. Currently there are more negative studies then positive, ones that show that it didnt work but also caused problems.
I hope it does work to be honest but treating this like its black and white is frankly dumb.
