President Donald Trump is exacerbating the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. by downplaying the problem and telling Americans they don’t have to wear a mask, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.
Trump “says a lot of things, right? They’re not necessarily facts, they’re not necessarily true,” Cuomo said at a press briefing in Albany.
“He wants to deny the Covid virus. He has from day one. ‘Well it’s just like the flu. Well it’s going to be gone by Easter. It’s going to get warm and disappear like a miracle.’ He’s said all of things, and none of them were true,” Cuomo said.
He said Trump could help curb the outbreak in the U.S., the worst in the world, by simply acknowledging the problem and by wearing a mask in public. If he doesn’t, then “he’s facilitating the virus. He’s enabling the virus,” he said.
“He won’t wear a mask. Vice President Pence says wear a mask. All the health officials say wear the mask. He won’t wear a mask because he doesn’t want to admit that there’s a Covid virus. Why? I have no idea,” Cuomo said.
Cuomo ridiculed Trump’s claim that if the U.S. didn’t conduct more tests then it wouldn’t find additional cases. Trump has previously said that “anybody who wants a test gets a test.”
Last month at a campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Trump attributed the growing outbreaks across the country to increased testing, adding that he told officials to “slow the testing down, please.”
The Empire State governor pointed to his own work in New York as an example for other states to contain the virus. There were 817 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in New York, he said, which was the lowest level of Covid-19 hospitalizations since the beginning of the outbreak.

Cuomo is a dope, there is no doubt Trump will fire back on him BUT is he wrong about the message Trump is sending by not wearing a mask?
If this is another media creation and masks dont slow down the spread of the virus and Trump is proven correct in the long run fine, but as it stands today the belief is masks are beneficial.
Or address the issue and point out that officials have been wrong on every single issue regarding the virus thus far and we really dont know if masks are even slightly effective. This is easy to squash.

Yeah I dont believe you're necessarily wrong. Every piece of new evidence is contradictory to old information, which is fine because as we learn more information about the virus our understanding should change.
But at this point if the belief is masks protect others from droplets being airborne why not be courteous and wear one?
I can't enter a store without wearing shoes, pants and a shirt, why is a mask such an issue?
People should be more concerned with multiple stores refusing to accept cash as a form of payment due to a coin shortage.....

Then why doesn’t the President quote this study? It would be really easy to do and it would calm the nation.
For some reason we all know that the virus is easily transferable from surfaces or isn’t very contagious when air borne but some how there are thousands of new infections every day. But no one knows masks are useless?

Remember him telling his people that everything was okay? Mass transit was fine...no cleaning necessary! Sent elderly people to die in care facilities while taking his mom out of one because it wasn't safe. Not putting travel advisories out for New Yorkers fleeing the state and spreading the COVID. He them threatened and attacked other states saying MY should be quarantined....
