Looks like I’ll still be getting a check.
“Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell changed his tune and said that a second stimulus check “could well be” part of the next coronavirus relief bill. Equally telling was his follow-up remark: “I think the people who have been hit the hardest are people who make about $40,000 a year or less,” he said.”
“The tides have been turning on the odds of a second stimulus check since the House of Representatives passed the HEROES Act and included an expanded second stimulus payment. Republican opposition has started to wane as President Trump and other members of his administration have increasingly, albeit unevenly, voiced support for a second direct payment. However, this is the first time McConnell has even tepidly acknowledged that direct payments may be included. His comments come as the Senate started a two-week recess and on the heels of record high cases of coronavirus across the U.S. and a reversal of state re-opening plans across several states and counties. While still far from a slam dunk, the fact that the Senate Majority leader is making positive comments is a noteworthy development.”

That is bullshit. Democrat propaganda. What is happening is Democrats are telling everyone they want $6000 a person. They know they can't get it because it will cost trillions this country doesn't have and will result in the printing of money that has no backing. Democrats want to sound like Santa Clause so they can tell their voters the evil Republicans stopped them. Very dangerous the printing of money and could lead to wild inflation. Most Republicans want the same amount as last time. In order to get Democrats to get on board with out adding pork for to the bill Republicans are going to low ball the figure because they know Democrats have not only done nothing in Congress for three years they have tried to obstruct for three years. My prediction in the end after this game is played it will be for the same amount of $1200 for those making $75K and under and $2400 married for those making under $150K with $500 a child. Realize the danger in these stimulus checks to the fiscal stability of our government.

That's right Mitch. Nobody making $41k and up got fired...or has bills to pay.

What makes me laugh is the majority of people think these government handouts are "free money". Taxes are going to go up dramatically, especially if Biden gets in. Also, when the inflation hits, that $1200 is going to seem like $120. When the hyperinflation starts it will be $12. Most people here do not seem to understand how/why fiat currency loses more and more value with time. The government, Fed and Treasury is robbing people... very covertly and very stealthy.
So when you get your "free money" deposit make sure you buy something useful and/or that will hold it's value... guns, ammo, gold, silver, food, water, etc.

Yes, definitely. Go to school and get a good degree, such as physician, software engineer, or electrical engineer. Or learn a good trade, such as plumber, welder, or electrician, and live a very frugal life, save and invest a portion of your salary in broad index funds, real estate, a good business, etc..

the corona virus has been great for me so far, i have been making more money because no one wants to work, claiming they are afraid of the anal virus, plus what looks like another corona bonus,

Hyperinflation has always happened when too much currency was printed. How much currency is printed at all these days? Most transactions are done digitally. I never used one printed dollar of the last stimulus check. Any getbig economists know how hyperinflation works in the new digital economy?

Electronic currency has been around for a long time. Physical or digital, it doesn't matter... still loses value over time.

Has any country using primarily digital currency ever go into hyperinflation?

So you're implying we won't have a hyperinflation because the currency (trillions) being created from nothing is not physical green rectangles?

I don't know but it's a question I have had for a while now. If hyperinflation were a real threat why doesn't the Fed or Congress do anything about the debt? Is it possible they want to tank the economy and ditch the 26 trillion debt and create a new currency? They don't seem to be bothered by it at all.

That's some fucking bullshit.....like people making 41k didn't lose their jobs

They would only not get the stimulus check if they are still employed.

It took you that long? You are way behind the getbig average to make 40k, and it's by the middle of February at the latest!

Yeah, but to be fair, the government forced the shutdown.
I'm referring to losers that make less than 40k, shut down or none.
Students that never finish,...SJWs....adult social media obsessives and finally the worst of all them "gamers"... AKA ..... LOSERS.

If a paltry check from Uncle Sam excites you then you really need to aim higher in life.

You can look at it that way, or you can simply look at it as monopoly money and buy something you absolutely don't need at all but always wanted.
My girl thought I was a dumbass when I bought it, but I bought a super high end bluetooth speaker. I already had a HK Go+play (which is considered pretty nice) but I figured I'd give the legit best on the market a shot, as I listen to music all summer long in my backyard and wanted to have a damn near block party LOL!
At the end of the day I'm extremely happy with my purchase, but I have every other thing I need in my life right now. Figured why the F*ck not lol!

She's right. You should've bought something that holds value instead... silver, gold or ammo.

Fair enough. I guess I just wanted to enjoy something and not have something holding or gaining value that I can't appreciate. I also have enough rounds to off most of the area if shit ever hits the fan! lol
In case you want to blow your next check on the same thing, Diamondboxx XL2 will legit knock your socks off! Sh*ts on every other speaker on the market, and it's not even close!

Silver and gold are terrible investments. If the dollar plummets in value then what is gold and silver worth? It's worth is based on the dollar.

I’m not sure. Maybe once everything resets and gets back to normal, that’s what will be used as the baseline for the new currency? I’m not an economist so this always is a question of mine too.

But, but, but... this can't happen in the US... can it?
-

If I own $10,000 worth of gold and silver today and then in 5 years there is a period of hyperinflation in the US. Then in principle I could sell my gold and silver to someone in Europe (somewhere there was no hyperinflation) for 10,000euros and then exchange that into the inflated US currency.

Nothing wrong with owning a small amount like that for emergencies. Instead of trading it to Europeans for Euros why not just invest in some foreign currency now?
-
lol Oh my. You have a lot to learn young man.
I'm not young but when I was young I was a stupid gold bug like many on here. Again, if we hit hyperinflation gold and silver are worthless because where are you trading it in for cash and why are you trading it for worthless currency? If hyperinflation lasted a short time you could trade it for cash after the reset if anyone wanted to trade you for it.
The best investments to protect from hyperinflation are real estate (especially primary residence), cash (foreign and domestic), food, guns and ammo, solar generator to produce electric if it goes down, medical supplies, household items like toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Obviously domestic currency won't help during hyperinflation but sure helps during the Covid 19 shutdown and other unforeseen disasters.

Because then you might lose out if the foreign currency hyperinflates..
Gold and silver are like your safety net. Personally I have a lot of silver right now..

If all currency worldwide hyperinflates we are all fucked unless you can live off the land.

Smart man. Silver will go ballistic in the near future. Physical PMs are a great insurance asset... no counter-party risks either.
BTW Humble, you don't trade PMs for other fiat currencies. If need be, you trade it for goods and services. Gold has been a store of value and money for many 1000's of years. Hard to beat a track record like that. Also, just because someone owns PMs doesn't mean they're not diversified. I've mentioned cash flow RE on here many times, but in times like these with millions unemployed, will renters continue to pay their rent? There are some very tough times ahead. What we experienced over the last couple months may just be a 'warm-up' for what's coming.

Ha, ha, sure. You go into Denny's for breakfast and scrape off some gold shavings off your gold bar. Don't forget to scrape a couple extra gold dust specks for the waitress's tip.

Don't be an ignoramus.
Pre-1965 silver coins are much more fractional and easier to use for transactions. Gold is a store of wealth and it always will be. You probably can't afford gold at current prices ($1800/oz), but you should get some of the silver coins I just mentioned... dimes or quarters, a $500 face value bag would be a good start.
If not, keep hoarding those fiat digi-dollars... they lose more and more value with time.

I'm sure you can buy essentials with silver and gold coins when the shit hits the fan. What the hell is anyone else going to do with outdated currency that is worth nothing because the current currency is worth nothing?

People who suffered a loss of income or additional expenses due to the pandemic would definitely benefit by getting some "free money" from the government. The moratorium on evictions in many states will be ending soon. People who are still out of work and can't pay their rent including any back rent owed are gonna be shit out of luck and a roof over their heads.
Many people's incomes, including mine have remained stable. Also, there are a lot of folks who have not incurred noteworthy expenses because of the pandemic. There should be a way to channel payments to the folks who legitimately need them as a result of the virus and not give money to those of us who haven't seen any loss and don't expect to.

Yeah, but how do you sort out who needs it and who doesn't? It was hard enough just getting the 1st round of stimulus checks out.

Gold has only been money for thousands of years, but I guess your expert opinion changes all that - lol
Most important than buying things with it, PMs hold value outside of the financial system, it is insurance against hyperinflation and a financial/banking system collapse.
Silver now approaching $20 oz. The boat is sailing and you're missing it.

"Gold has only been money for thousands of years." So what? So was wampum. Should I invest in wampum as well? Silver is approaching $20 an oz. I bought silver years ago when it was $23 an oz. Like I said before, there is nothing wrong with having a small amount of gold or silver for emergency purposes to trade in for cash but storing large amounts is stupid. If hyperinflation hits it will not be useful at all.

Are you dense?
