I’m sure that it’s uniqueness would be a nice change of pace...  but it would depend on price.

I see value in them!

Definitely helpful to start with if you have taken a long break from training.

It's gimmicky but I see the benefits as opposed to using a round plate. Is it worth paying extra? Probably not.

I see some value in it, there are some types of twists and such used in track and field workouts were it would be nice to have a cut out plate. And I could see perhaps someone rigging up a harness for them to be used as a makeshift weight vest, etc...., but this is one of those things where the costs override the value.

I was curious, so I looked up the prices for the most popular sizes (they were made in weights 8lbs - 100lbs) -

Pricing 2015 -

QTY   15 LBS   30 LBS   45 LBS   60 LBS
1   138.00   158.58   191.86   229.60
2   136.00   156.41   189.05   226.24

2016 -

QTY   15 LBS   30 LBS   45 LBS   60 LBS
1-2   $98.00   $118.00   $144.00   $168.00

2018 -

QTY   15 LBS   30 LBS   45 LBS   60 LBS
20 or less   $76.00   $96.00   $122.00   $146.00

---------------------------

I will say, they are really nice castings. This guy is like the Basile of the odd shaped plate world.

Except he has likely sold his product, whereas Basile's Bicep Supination Machine sits in a warehouse.

He does seem to sell a fair number of them based off the facebook page (scroll down) - https://www.facebook.com/birtstrong/?hc_ref=ARQ0X-haDXdIC8WnjShGq1a-qDsLK36-3hrfQT3TkfVi34F41c4vOFeUzCmQ-2O6l9k&fref=nf&__tn__=kC-R .

For those that remember the Iron Grip plates -

They were designed with an eye toward gyms and such where machines were the norm, e.g. - schools, hotels, corporate gyms, etc.... The idea was to have an easy to grip plate that wouldn't roll away.

I have to say, if I owned a gym, I'd be temped to buy a small selection of these "Birt" plates. If worse came to worse you could follow the early Iron Grip model.

Based on the current supply and demand curve caused by Covid those plates probably go for $1000 each, haha.
