I had this discussion with the Dugdale's 15 years ago.
But what are we to do? No one seems to want to say anything remotely controversial these days, unless they are shielded completely by anonymity.
Frankly, given the current climate of complete insanity, I'm surprised the Labrada's would even mention God. People are offended by everything these days. Well - maybe 8% of people, but they obviously have the loudest voices.
So what are we to do?

I would imagine that the biggest worry, competition wise, that Hunter, Sergio Jr. and any other former champion's sons might have is Joseph Baena. Talk about a "what if".

Would you encourage your son to shoot vials of steroids; syringe insulin; syringe growth hormone; take anti estrogens; take diuretics; shoot LH hormones and who knows what else like pain killers from aching joints? The best thing a bodybuilding could do for a son is to discourage him from the life style. Say what you want about Arnold but his son is built and I'm willing to bet natural. No son of a champ has more potential than Guatemalan Arnold. Not Oliva's or Labrada's has that potential.

That's what struck me, you're Lee Labrada's kid, why not go the "mass with class" route in physique or something. I understand not wanting to be compared to your dad, but it's a better route overall.

Agreed. If he loves him, he will discourage him from the drug path he chose. The lad is well built as it is and will improve to a decent degree as a natural with genuinely superior genetics.

Agreed. I think Arnold would discourage the druggie way. If he loves his son, he will do his best to discourage him. It is still up to the kid and as IroNat said, there's only one Arnold but that boy is as close as one could get.

Steroids are like the big elephant in the room. It's like professional wrestlers (WWe) not admitting that everything they do is completely choreographed. It's so obvious, everyone knows it by now, but they just can't get themselves to talk about it openly with fans. Same thing with professional bodybuilders. Everyone knows these guys are on steroids (the pros know everyone knows), but they won't ever talk about it openly. I don't think it's due to fear of legal repercussions, but more so because its become an unspoken rule since the very beginning. Much like a magician showing people how they do their tricks. Everyone knows there is no such thing as magic, but magicians never claim it as so. Why would bodybuilders reveal that there is no magic to their bodies? Because it's not as fun if they do? Or maybe, because of the stigma it could cause if it became open knowledge?
To be a professional bodybuilder, in many respects you have to not just be addicted to the actual weight lifting, dieting, cardio and posing routines, but also equally as addicted to drugs.
Think about what that means in the eyes of the mainstream media in a world where steroid users throughout professional sports are seen as cheaters. It would portray professional bodybuilding in the worst possible light.

I've thought about this too, but kids are going to do what they want regardless. Maybe Lee discouraged him, but if he went that route are you going to cut him off or what.
I don't think Lee advices him on the drugs. He has some coach named Andrew Vu.

I don't know if he was encouraged or not but most pros have said they don't want their kids to aspire to become a pro. But they also say that whatever their child decides he wants to do they will support them, often referring to their own parents who offered no support at all. I would bet that Lee didn't push drugs on Hunter, but it's possible I guess. I know Sergio Oliva Jr said his father hated him bodybuilding or even training. Zero support. Was Sr like that because he wanted to protect his son or because he was a bastard in general? Lots of people have said Sr was just an asshole in general.

I’d want my kid to workout and stuff. Pro bodybuilding or even national - no way.

I encourage my kid to workout for health and strength.
I've told him if you have to take drugs to compete in any sport then don't compete. Find another activity.
Send your kid to math camp not sports camp. Seriously. Do like the Chinese and Indian parents do. Math or computer camp.
If your kid is that great an athlete he'll make it regardless. He'll be found by scouts.
Competitive bodybuilding is a foolish path and that includes competitive natty bodybuilding.

absolutley he’s pretty complete from head too toe despite the fact he has a massive head his waist from the front side and back in good witch is a good thing he has plenty of mass in the right areas I think he has a better chance of making the top 6 of the Mr Olympia than SERGIO jr wouldn’t be surprised if hunter cracks the top 6 sometime in the next couple of years he has the genetic capacity too do it against what’s out there atm

That’s hilarious you said Kuclo I thought about him compared to Hunter and yeah Hunter gets it cause he’s a smaller Kuclo without the waist and some proportion.
Least Hunter has Labrada Nutrition to run if things don’t work out.
