Post by: IronMeister on August 02, 2020, 06:25:47 AM
Jamal Browner who competes in 110kg category pulled a huge 476kg deadlift.

Which arguably makes him the strongest pound for pound deadlifter in the world.

At 7:40 mark:

Pretty clean lift, and the weight difference is tremendous. Anyone know his height?

Ed Coan pulled Sumo, as did scores before and after. Thinking about it, Sumo has been part of powerlifting longer than it hasn't.

Sumo deads are cheating. Some of these power lifters are lifting the plates one foot off the ground. That's why I'm a fan of Olympic lifting. Get the bar over head or you don't.  No amount of cheat suits or tricks will help you like a super wide grip, crazy arch and an inflated chest while benching. If you can lift lift 315lbs over head from the floor you are strong and powerful as hell.

So you’re impressed by a 700 pound squat by a drug abusing  22 year old but this doesn’t register as an accomplishment worthy of your awe?

Very impressive "Strapped deadlift" also called a "Strongman deadlift" not a true Deadlift.

I wonder how much he can do without straps?

Most in this thread are absolute morons who apparently never deadlifted in their lives. Wouldn't even budge one end of that barbell one inch off the ground in a suit with straps.
Fuck.

As if Olympic lifting wasn't technical as hell. Why do they start Olympic lifting training as small children in many countries? Think. You don't think they try not to "muscle up" lifts and use momentum and "tricks" etc?

WTF is "real strength" anyway for you guys?

Impressive. Definitely.

But the Sumo-craze has completely distorted shit.

The extremely limited ROM MUST be acknowledged.

An extra foot of range, and without straps, and his pull would be hundreds of pounds less.

Yes though this guy has pretty good range, due to height and not maxing the foot stance. Do you think this is much worse than Coan's semi-sumo? I'd think Coan would've widened it too if it had helped him.

Coan pulled 890 conventional I believe at 220. Pound for pound Lamar Gant was the best for decades.

blacks with their higher bone density may be better genetically for anything strength related.

what whites have going for them in strongman is generally having larger frames.

This is also why blacks suck in the water. Bone density.

Look at the 2nd video. Look at the speed. Yes his grip failed but he's obviously very strong on conventional too.

impressive strenght. but why sumo?

less weight with non sumo stance would garner more respect and make more sense.

got to give him credit for the strenght though, and not even being encouraged when doing it. basically alone in the gym.

germs!
