Just finished watching the 4 episodes of THE LAST NARC which is supposedly a true story about the drug cartels and their involvement with various branches of the Mexican government and their association with and within the US CIA as well as the DEA and higher.
I recommend this Amazon TV series (roughly 4 hours total) to each and every GetBigger including your friends and family.
Some of you may be more familiar with this story than myself, so you may not be as shocked as I was by the time I got to the 4th, hour long, installment.
It would be interesting to hear any intelligent comment (pro or con) from anyone who takes the time to watch this amazing and seemingly impossible story!

true story on television? you watched a true story on ... television?
log off, and just go back to your tv ::)

I've watched both of the Narcos series (very good) and Surviving Escobar series (about Pablo's personal hitman) and it was very good too. Never heard of the one you mentioned.

This one is new, and highly recommended.
Narc, slang for a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent
Narcos, people involved in organized crime or illegal drug trade relating to narcotics

The second series of Narcos actually focused on the DEA operation and backlash that came from Kiki's torture and death. I will have to check this one out when I finish the Money Heist series.

Haven't watched this, but if you really want to get lost down a crazy rabbit hole then look into the history (both modern and going back centuries) of opium/heroin production in Afghanistan and the distribution of it.
It will shine light on how fucked up global powers really are.

Stunt, do you know much about Rick Ross and how the CIA gave him the pipeline to start the crack/cocaine epidemic in LA? The CIA is so fucking complicit in so much shit, it's unbelievable.

Would that be the opium wars? What should I google?

EL, In an effort not to disclose my ignorance regarding this topic, I'll be sending you a short but interesting response.
But in the meantime .... thanks for sending the link which I will be reading later this afternoon.
Also ... thanks to the rest of youz who offered intelligent responses. I'm dumb but interested in this topic so I'll definitely be following up.

The opium wars and the involvement of the British is a good place to start. Also CIA involvement in South East Asia (golden triangle) 1949 onwards. Korean and Vietnam war.
For more modern stuff look into the Taliban banning opium farming, the Afgan war, CIA and Nato involvement, right up to the present and who set up opium farmers in Afghanistan with solar energy to help increase productivity.

I watched The Last Narc, a docudrama with no actors, but eye witnesses to what was really going on. . Also watched Narco:Mexico, this one a TV series with actors, good also.
I live fairly close to the Mexico border since I was 10 years old, around San Diego. Familiar with TJ, Otay Mesa, Mexicali Tecate (where the beer is made), and all the other lesser known border /village crossing points in between. From talking to others over the years, with more up close working knowledge than me and from some personal insight (and a bit of understanding of Spanish...I'm not Latin), The Last Narc is pretty much right on. Hector at the bar didn't tell the full story, of course, don't think he wanted to anyway to cover himself. His pension and other perks would be stopped.
CIA vs DEA mainly (there can be other government agency's involved) and who gets the best deals with the cartels and which cartel they are working with at the moment, against which other cartel. And all pretty much directed from Washington DC. . Cartel members and their family's vacation in SoCal at casino's, go to baseball, soccer, boxing and football games all the time. Government never questions or bothers them at all. Fly in or drive in, all Seem to have a free pass entering and leaving the states.
The federal government of Mexico, almost completely controlled from the top down by cartel money and drug influence. There are still many brave men with honor in Mexico, but the odds are against them. I've been told (many times) by people who know, that drug input from Mexico could be halted by at least 50% quite fast, if certain things were put into action, with orders coming from DC and if the government of Mexico was serious with working with the U.S.... .That's their story anyway. Columbia has very nearly stopped coke plantations/exports and cleaned up their act (last I heard). With any hope, Mexico could be next.
