People are paying to see Tyson not Roy Jones. Jones can easily be replaced, and depending on who, it could bring in more money. So that homo cry baby Jones, best keep his mouth shut.
-
Yes, the buzz in on Tyson, not Jones. Jones can be replaced by anyone.
-
Jones is a speedy crackhead at 165 . Too light to take a hit
-
Compensated for delay . . . translation- he’s scared shitless.

It's a shitty thing, but Jones has them over a barrel. I can't think of another name boxer, close in weight, etc.... that would be as much of a draw for Tyson, can pass the medical, be as cheap as Jones, and be a safe fight (someone who probably won't embarrass Tyson).
Give Jones a little extra, and keep it moving.

Can’t believe there still so many Tyson Nuthuggers. Here’s your hero getting the shit kicked out of him by a third rate journeyman 15 years ago. You think he’s somehow a better fighter NOW?

Jones isn't actually in his prime.

What if mike doesn’t have a big peepee? Would it still be cool to whip out a little one and piss on his face?

Overrated bum. Carefully guided to heavyweight championship by his overprotective handlers without ever beating a top ten opponent. Never beat a decent fighter in their prime. Best wins were against over the hill ex champs like Holmes and Spinks. Next best competition was against tomato can paper champs like Berbick, Bruno, Thomas and Smith. Lost to journeyman Douglas. Destroyed by the only two real champs he ever faced. Would’ve been destroyed by Riddick Bowe as well.

Kevin McBride was a journeyman, but I don't think he was a third rate journeyman.
As for Tyson's decline as a fighter - in the words I once read about Idi Amin living safely in exile for 24 years in Saudi Arabia after his reign as dictator in Uganda, where 1 in 60 Ugandans died under his rule: "People forget."

Why can’t you believe it? Look at the buzz Levrone brought a few years back because of all the nut higgers.

True. Essentially the same people who somehow remember Bob’s Big Boy as having the best burgers ever and are anxiously waiting for a Skid Row reunion. I think it’s called The Mandela Effect.

I think The Mandela Effect is for collective false memories.
An example for me is that I always remembered the children's books as "The Berenstein Bears" - but they are "The Berenstain Bears".
^ It would seem to me the Jewish couple who wrote that book played the Jewish name-change game, but IIRC, I went to Wikipedia, and the husband's real last name was "Berenstain". How many names have "stain" in the name rather than "stein"? So I think that false memory makes sense.
Some people thought that Nelson Mandela had died in prison, but then I thought I was confusing him for Rubin Carter, who was played by Denzel Washington in "The Hurricane" [1999]. As it turns out, I'm not sure why people thought that Nelson Mandela died in prison, but I remember hearing that another Black leader died in 1989, possibly after a stint in prison, but I can't remember.
I think that Mike Tyson may still be able to fight impressively, especially if pitted against another boxer of a similar age, like Roy Jones Jr., but those who think that Tyson will be anywhere near his prime...well...I guess after a lifetime of watching movies like Rocky and being sheltered, as well as being spoiled due to Western/capitalist largess, people internalize silly things that make no sense in reality.
In fairness to Kevin Levrone, I don't think he looked bad, even next to the best in the world.
If Kevin Levrone and Phil Heath went on a tour to meet members of the public, both wearing form-fitting clothes, the average person would not be able to tell much of a difference. On stage was obviously another thing.
Wasn't Roy Jones Jr. competitive professionally until as recently as 2017? Wouldn't he be the clear winner in that case?

This is why they should call his bluff. Either he fights for what they are offering or they drop him and get someone else. Hollyfield would fight Tyson again.
-
he should fight holyfield again that would be more interesting, i think roy would beat him

Holyfield didn't have any problems beating Tyson twice before.

That's like saying pre-heavyweight Roy Jones was a bum and everyone post-heavyweight would have defeated him. Prison along with whores and 50 mil thieving promoters and massive weight cuts can do things to fighters.

Only on GetBig can a thread about a boxing match turn into a discussion on the size of Mike Tyson’s wiener.

you know what rbc yes ! that would be fine as well, roy should be happy mike is allowing him to make some easy money
-
rbc do you remember when roy thought he was a rapper and dumped a ton of his money into his shitty rap company, people forget , he had a nice fight contract with hbo. roy was never a big ppv draw, personally i think he should have stayed a mw, he would have eventually had a huge money fight with delahoya, and made more from that fight, than he ever did at lhw i used to be a huge boxing fan and followed it very close in that era.

Meltdown.

People obviously don't know about Roy Jones Junior. He was a killer in his heyday (keyword heydey) It literally happens with fighters. You can peak for a few fights, or years, but every fighter succumbs. It's an exhibition fight. What are you hoping for? Some 50 year old geezer to knock out another 50 year old geezer?
They are both laughing all the way to the bank.

But Jones was known for his speed not his knockout power. Once his speed was gone he was done. Tyson probably still has punching power and the videos show speed as well.

and chuck liddel didn't have any problems beating tito ortiz twice before, they both fought again as old men and tito knocked him out
point it the two of them have history, everybody remembers those fights so why aren't they fighting? roy jones jr is an all time great but he never caught on with the mainstream, hardly any of his fights were on ppv when people were calling him pound for pound best all time

Holyfield doesn't look as spry as Tyson does now -

Holyfield would be a good draw if he was healthy, but right now I think it would do more harm than good in the long run. He just doesn't look well enough to handle a fight.

Yikes! He looks like he taught BigRo how to throw fists.

Half true, half false. You’re correct that Roy never caught on as a PPV attraction in terms of PPV buys but he did fight 10 times on PPV compared with 13 for Holyfield and 14 for Tyson, so not a huge difference but you could chalk it up to Jones’s style which was pot-shotting and not all that exciting. He also suffered from a lack of big name opponents. He took 17 years to rematch Hopkins and he didn’t face Trinidad until Tito was at the end of his career. He was a dominant champion though and still the only middleweight to win a heavyweight champion. All that said, his chin didn’t hold up over time and Tyson will crush him with the first meaningful punch he lands.

He cut 25 lbs of muscle from HW after one fight That cut also did something to his punch resistance. We have no clue how his career goes if he doesn't make that move. The speed was going to go either way like Ray Leonard but it probably would have been more gradual instead of overnight, and I'm sure his punch resistance wouldn't have tanked like it did b/c there were no signs before the HW move.

Holyfield fought way too many fights. He seems a little mentally slow.
