My dream car is a truck
Me too. A Ford Raptor.

How many of you guys with the pick pick up trucks actually need to haul anything? Most of these trucks look pristine.
-
Built my dream ride a few years back.
2005 ford excursion
Kill devil stage 2 6.0 diesel
Billet internals for the tranny
Heavy duty axles
Full coil over conversion With enough lift to clear my 37’s
Fully deleted
Bulletproof oil cooler, water pump, and 7.3 fan clutch
Mishimoto radiator, intercooler, and piping
Gearheads tuning
I purchased the truck, drove it home, pulled the body off the frame on my 2 post lift and got to work....took me several months to get it together
Still trying to decide on which way I want to go with the paint. Keep the Eddie Bauer colors or go mineral grey...don’t want it flashy or anything...just going back with a ford color.

My wife and I both drive diesels.
She has a brand new high country duramax..it’s about a $90k truck.
She has no reason to own it...will never tow anything, and she got a bed cover for the back so it’s more of a really big trunk now.
My giant 25’ diesel suv? I tow shit with it all the time...I leave the 3rd row out and fill that bitch up too!
I’m hell on vehicles. My wife got the 2500 just for the extra room, and so she had a diesel

The truth is, I don't really care about cars anymore so my dream car is anything expensive. Expensive cars are excellent bait to attract good looking whores so I can make love to their holes.
If I was forced to choose one car right now I'd probably get one of the new Tesla Roadsters. $200-$250K, 0-60 in 1.9 seconds, 250 MPH top speed. Sounds pretty sweet to me.

Some are savvy, some aren't.
During the 80's I knew several seniors who were around during the depression. They never "invested" because they did not trust the stock market. I can't blame them for that. Back then you could keep a million dollars in the bank and live off the interest... not anymore.

We have a rainy day fund with a large amount in it, but we set a cap on it...so that’s about it for savings...it’s all dividends on her end and rent houses on my end.
What we don’t need we re-invest immediately.
And we don’t spend money on stupid shit either! That truck was a huge deal for us...we never really spend money on anything we don’t absolutely need.
Trying to currently start a business to grow so we have something to pass on to the kids...that’s the goal.

The majority of brick and mortar based businesses are going down. Also there is a high risk of being looted or set on fire by angry mob of libtard Bolsheviks. Internet based is the best.

I've had some decent cars in my day, but I would be scared shitless to get a high end Porsche, Lamborghini, or Ferrari.

Cool cars are like women to most guys. The guys expect that pristine shine, like in the shows and movies. Then they realise that work is involved, to maintain the beauty.

It’s essentially going to be internet based as far as sales go, but it will also be a full scale training center.
Not a typical business like you are thinking.

“Dream cars” are like “dream girls.” Once you drive them for a while and put a few miles on them you will get bored and start looking around for your next ride. That’s why I only do short-term leases. In some cases I’ll be bored with a car I lusted for for years in a few weeks.

This is why a dream truck is superior. The more scratches it gets, the more badass it looks.

In my case it wasn't like that. I built a vehicle that would last forever and meet any demand I threw at it....but could still seat 8-9 people.

Would have loved the C63 AMG - but it costs $316k, whereas my little C43 AMG was a bargain at only $130k.
Not the power of an American muscle car but 390 horses and a 0-100kmh in 4.1 seconds - it's enough to get past the tuk-tucks and families/pets on 110cc motorbikes.

My daily is a Toyota Land Cruiser. This is my 4th Turbo and each one seems to get better. Favorite thing about it? Hard to pick just one. Overall quality and of course the performance. The acceleration is really insane. My primary driving mode is Sport. Sport + is pretty severe TBH.

My daily is a Toyota Land Cruiser. This is my 4th Turbo and each one seems to get better. Favorite thing about it? Hard to pick just one. Overall quality and of course the performance. The acceleration is really insane. My primary driving mode is Sport. Sport + is pretty severe TBH.
if you're going to order one, suggest you take your time and spec it exactly as you want it. Look forward to seeing pictures of yours when you get it
thanks man, for me i am after the carrera s i cant spring 205k foir the turbo s model
i would like to order one speced out to my liking but thats 150k new for carrera s
so im going to buy used, which is only 6 months away and ill save myself 40-60k in depreciation with a car that has less than 10k miles on it
i would like it exactly as i want. but there are plenty of gaurds red models with the same chrome wheels and tan interior i prefer, the badge deletes and interior trims and tachometer colors are a nice touch, but unless my intials are on the headrest its not really personal.
thanks for sharing your car

Hope you and yours are well with all this idiocy going on! :-\

Amen brotha. Still nothing to me is even close to that.

so im going to buy used, which is only 6 months away
All that build up for a used car you want to buy in half a year?
I hereby predict I'll be nailing a supermodel in 6 months time (providing there's nothing horrific required like dating/conversation/acting normal/holding in farts etc.)
Ballin ::)
Seriously though - if you can't afford the car - the maintenance might wipe you out.

The turbo models are too soft in the overall driving experience, they are really made for daily driving. All around super car, awd, grocery getter, and occasional weekend track duty
The GT cars are a whole another level. Even the cayman gt4 I have more fun in
-
GT4s are amazing. Dealers are already asking $20K over MSRP for the new 4.0 liter 718 Spyders.

I don’t throw money away bro
Learned that from people who have lots of it
Why throw away 40-60 k when I can get some car which is still new if under 10 k miles
You realize a 2020 model is released in 2019
So they always got people playing catch up wanting newest model
Not me
I don’t plan on upgrading I plan on keeping it till it falls apart
Service on porche is every 20 k

A new car isn't throwing money away. It's all relative - someone that earns $150k a month isn't going to buy a 2nd hand car. That doesn't mean they are stupid or that the instant depreciation on buying a new car is throwing money away, it just means it's not enough to worry about. The idea that savvy, rich people buy 2nd hand cars isn't something I've witnessed.
The big benefit of a new car is that you know its history, you know how it's been taken care of, you know how it's been driven. If some hot-shot sales guy had a Porsche and then got his ass fired - how will he treat that car before returning it? How do you know the 1 year old car you are buying isn't one that kept going wrong from day 1 and the owner finally had enough?
The first BMW I had, the gearbox went in 9 days & I got a new car from them. That 2nd car - the gearbox went in 6 weeks - I got a 100% refund. With that refund, I ended up persuading them to give me a totally different model (with a different gearbox and a 3 month money back guarantee) at a massive discount.
I then had 2 fuel pumps go - which run at around $1,200 each & I got full replacements - so to me, the full warranty is important.
New car basically stops you from getting screwed and having to deal with all the shit that follows. Even with lemon laws, you are looking at a bunch of stress. Buy a car from the main dealer - they take care of you because they want to sell you the next.
Right now - with interest rates close to nothing - you also should take main dealer financing. Even if it's just 20% of the cost of the car - because if the dealer doesn't do you right - you can stop paying for it - and that wakes the fuckers up when the finance company calls corporate.
As for running it into the ground, that can be costly. These cars are jam packed full of tech. There's a ton more stuff to go wrong than in a Toyota shitbox. Parts are VERY expensive and engineers that can fix a car like this are not common. To repair a high-end car needs a lot of diagnosis equipment. So as it gets older and repairs become more frequent - you can run into some very hefty bills. A wind mirror on my Beemer is $700, fuel pump $1,200 - new oil pan recently was $500. Plus - where I am - some parts have to be shipped from Germany as they don't stock everything in country. This part of your idea is where you will be throwing money away
If you are saving up to buy this car, that does imply you are stretching yourself to get it (I could be wrong). IMO - it's not worth it.

Valid points bro
I bought my Mercedes with 6 k miles on it
Saved 15 k to do that
Cars are made well now
I’m not worried about how hard the car was driven
Of course a 911 will be driven hard
I’m not marrying the car , not making love to The car , not to worried about its history
I don’t make 150 a month
So yeah my goal is to get a carrera s 992 for under 100 k if u see one that’s perfect with 5 k miles or less I’ll pay 120 k
But to buy brand new and lose your ass on the depreciation is not my style
I’m just not into losing
Thank you for your post , they are valid points

Reliability of these cars is a complex issue. If you take my AMG & your Porsche - both are hi-tech companies involved in F1 racing - the real bleeding edge of engine design. It's part of what helps them innovate in their road vehicles. But it's called the bleeding edge for a reason.
Your typical high-end/performance vehicle has many, many more components than your average Toyota shitbox. So let's say the Toyota shitbox has 10,000 components and the Porsche has 15,000. That's 50% as many things to go wrong. So even at the same level of reliability, you are 50% more likely to have issues.
Combine this with the fact that they are putting new tech into these cars or upgraded versions of tech and you do have to expect something to go wrong. Plus with the complexity - there's always a chance that the engineers can make a slip up putting it all back together. It's the reason I insisted on a new car after throwing a gearbox at 9 days - I want a factory built engine, not a workshop rebuilt one.
Extended warranties are good - but I'd call around and ask the price for a gearbox replacement, windscreen replacement and a replacement wing mirror, if that doesn't make you puke - go for it. I'd also look to for the availability of extended warranties - my experience here is that they have them but rarely try to sell them to you.
One other thing about here (Thailand) - I simply would not buy a used car here. Too many horror stories. If you are in US with lemon law - you are in a better position in theory but I don't know how much of a pain it is if you get a lemon.
-
yes i see your issues. but we have different outlooks on cars. im not going to worry about what might go wrong. i just want a good price for the car im after.
warrantees are for suckers. they always lie. always. same as insurance. there is always a lie or a catch and they will not pay.
buying a car that has under 10k is not a problem for me. i dont plan on the car being perfect. i know it will break down here and there.
i might spend 40k fixing it over time yes. but why throw the 40k away right off the bat by buying brand new?
i understand you dont want to pay for repairs, and i dont want to overpay period.
either way im going to have to pay for repairs if i keep it long enough.
im not going to pay 8k down, to lease it for 1500 a month for 3 years just to give it back. thats just for the standard carrera model. not even s model
ill buy it and if it breaks, it breaks. i know it will so im not gonna stress about what could happen.
but im not paying 150 k for a car
90-100k is doable for myself, and my budgets i set for myself
100k is a shitload as well for a car . but i will be getting 50k off for taking one with 10k or less miles on it
for me thats ok
now can we just get back to being happy and talking about our dream cars?

Subaru is a Japanese car brand, formerly Fuji Heavy Industries.
The one I have was made in the U.S. (assembled).
Someday, if you work hard, perhaps you can afford to buy a Subaru Outback. Buy...not lease.
Just about all cars, even American brands are made with large amounts of foreign made parts, including Ford trucks.

I liked those early Z's too. Datsun.
Datsun was better than Nissan. I think the brand went downhill after the name change.
I had a used Datsun B210 once. Not exciting but it was a good car until I tried to rebuild the carb and then it never ran right.
Did it really get 30mpg? That was a lot in the 70s.
They talk it up like it was a Cadillac in this video.

Cool thread, guys! I’m glad and proud to tell you that I’ve got my dream car in my garage! It’s VW Tiguan. Now that my dream has come true, I’m thinking of how to protect my car from sawdust which comes from my workshop (it is also in my garage). I want to separate the car from the workshop but don’t want to build a concrete wall. What do you guys think of installing some sort of an industrial curtain? Will it work well? A steel stud partition wall is super easy to erect if you're at all handy. Studs just twist fit into top and bottom tracks and the drywall locks it all together. You can include a door, windows, light duty shelving (or put plywood behind drywall for strong shelves anywhere, but make allowance for door frame width if you do this) and run plumbing and electrics if you want.
Once it's painted it won't look like some half assed temporary thing, and it's weight is bearing on the floor instead of suspended from a ceiling like a curtain.
Sure the guys at the drywall shop can help you work out what you would need.

Very cool. My uncle is a big vet guy. He had a 02 and 03 Z06 then moved onto a 07 Z06. That turned into a 09 ZR-1 and a month ago, he finally traded the ZR-1 in for a new C8. His ZR-1 had less than 4k miles on it. That was one scary ass car.

What do you think of the C8? The new ZR1 should be insane.
I like the C8, just wish it wasn't so heavy, but i understand it's more about comfort for sales these days. My Z is not very comfortable compared to a C8. I'm waiting for the C8 Z06 to come out, not sure i can afford one, but maybe a used one in 4-5 years. I've driven a few C8's and they are very fun cars to drive.

They don't call the ZR the King for nothing. They are one of my favorite cars and i almost bought one instead of the Z, but i wanted a track car that wouldn't have cooling problems. The supercharged vettes all have heat soak issues, even with lots of cooling mods; i can beat on my Z full out for 45 mins to a hour straight on a track and it runs flawlessly, even in 90d Texas heat. The ZR's can make 800-900hp very easily and drive like stock, they are incredible cars and very tame to drive until you get on the throttle. My car "feels" like it has 650hp, mainly due to the cam and exhaust. But I think it has good manners on the street, the cam is very streetable IMO, not too much LSA and plenty of lift on the intake side, which is what LS7's with high compression need.
That's would I would think but he's got a Ferrari 488 also and says he prefers driving the C8 over that. He's a strange guy though so who knows.
A lot of Exotic owners say the C8 is a poor mans Ferrari and that the C8 has better manners. There are a lot of blogs that prove the guys who own the higher level Exotics typically have good things to say about the C8.
To each his own. My C6Z is not something i would drive daily, but i could if i wanted to. When i first bought it bone stock i drove it every day for like 3 months, unless it was raining. Wasn't bad, but most people are more picky than me. I grew up driving old hot rods, so comfort to me is probably very different than the average Joe. The seats in the C6 aren't very comfortable, but you can upgrade them easier. Plus getting in and out of a car that is only 3 inches off the ground is a pain in the ass.

I see be Bentleys all over boring looking vehicle
Not sure even if I had 250 k to drop on a car if I would
Rather have a Beechcraft twin engine instead
Could register as a club and make my members pay the operating costs on it
There is a aviation community in Jupiter near the b line highway
I like that twin turbo vette does it out the power to the wheels though? Only fast in a straight line ?
I prefer the rear engine set up for a sports car
And German

The only bentley I like is the new continental GT but then again at that price point you can get two cars that look and perform a way better.

Lots of toys I’d like to drive.
Altough where I live roads are kinds of shitty, summer is 2months and rest of the year it mostly rains waters, sleet or snow.
I’ve got a family.
Mercedez Benz E amg63 wagon would suit me just fine.

The Vette handles well, 6 speed manual with the Z51 handling package. On a good day it will spin the tires at 60-70 mph, needs a stickier tire on the rear. I haven't driven it since last September before my shoulder surgery. I plan to get it out sometime soon, weather permitting.
Would love a Porsche GT3, unfortunately out of my budget.

Gt3 is nuts bro
Regular carrera 2020 992 model is in range of leasing
8 k down 1200 monthly
No Maintinance costs except gas
And car scent to wash away the stank of coke and hookers
30 months
Can opt to purchase at end
15 k a year for a lease is crazy I know
But those 30 months

Lamborghini's New Countach LPI 800-4 Is Faithful to Its Famous Name
Earlier this week, Lamborghini confirmed it was planning to bring back the famous Countach name. Now, after only the smallest of gaps between tease and please, we are seeing the reality. The Countach LPI 800-4 has just been revealed at The Quail Motorsport Gathering in California—a new version of a car the company last built 31 years ago.
The new Countach isn’t a restomod or a "continuation" version of the original, and underneath sits a substantial amount of the existing Aventador. Yet, as these first images make clear, it pays very obvious homage to the design of the original Countach, which made its debut in prototype form at the 1971 Geneva auto show. The ambition, as Lamborghini puts it, is "to imagine how the iconic Countach of the '70s and '80s might have evolved into an elite super sports model of this decade."
The original Countach was a pioneer. The use of a north-south V-12 engine behind its passenger compartment created the archetype for the modern supercar; the earlier Miura’s mid-mounted engine was fitted transversely. But while shocking when launched, with its name a mild expletive in the Piedmontese dialect, the first Countach lived until 1990, and the purity of Marcello Gandini's design became diluted with the arrival of bigger wings, spoilers, and plastic bodywork extensions over time.
For the new car, Lamborghini design director Mitja Bokert has chosen to channel the spirit of the earlier versions of the original Countach, but has also integrated some references to later models. The LPI800-4's basic form incorporates the wedge-shaped frontal profile of the first LP400 production Countach, as well as the similarly clean taper from the passenger compartment to the rear end. It also lacks any fixed wing or visible aerodynamics (an active element sits hidden above the rear lights).
There are some obvious and necessary differences, too. The new Countach's need for cooling air has seen it given sizable intakes integrated into the doors; the original had small NACA-style ducts. Yet the upper air intakes at the rear are actually smaller than the LP400's high-mounted scoops. All body panels are made from carbon fiber.
Other elements of the 21st-century Countach have taken inspiration from the later Quattrovalvole version of the original, including the angular frontal design and trapezoidal hood and hexagonal wheel arches. Modern impact standards deprive the new car of pop-up headlights, sadly—but compact LED lighting units are similar in size to the first Countach's glass-covered daytime lights and turn signals. Scissor-opening doors are, of course, present; every Lamborghini supercar since the first Countach has featured them.
The new Countach's interior is less retro, being obviously based closely on that of the Aventador. Both cars use the same carbon-fiber tub. Digital instruments and an 8.0-inch portrait central touchscreen are standard, although the latter incorporates a new function: selecting the Stile (or design) function will run an animation that explains the history of the Countach's styling.
The rear of the new Countach shares the original's inverted wedge shape and four exhaust tailpipes, together with hexagonal triple-element light clusters at each side, plus a louvered engine cover. The alloy wheels, 20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear, have been designed to offer a modern take on the "telephone dial" alloys popular in the '80s. The view through these to vast carbon-ceramic brake discs front and rear is necessarily different from the original car's much smaller rotors.
The new Countach concept at Pebble has been finished in pearlescent Bianco Siderale white. The color is similar to the one Ferruccio Lamborghini specified for his own Countach LP400 S, paired with a similarly period-appropriate red and black interior. New Countach buyers will be able to choose from a range of similarly retro exterior hues, including '70s-style solid green and yellow shades. (A full range of modern colors will also be offered for less daring buyers.)
Most of the new Countach's mechanical package is shared with the even-more limited Sián, which we experienced earlier this year. This combines a 769-hp version of Lamborghini's long-serving 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V-12 with additional assistance from a 33-hp electrical motor, this drawing power from a supercapacitor which supports high energy flow rates but which is only able to store charge for brief periods. The motor and capacitor add just 75 pounds to the powertrain's mass, but the system doesn't have enough juice for pure electric operation. Lamborghini claims a total system output of 802 horsepower, fractionally less than the 808-hp figure claimed for the Sián. But on Lamborghini's numbers the Countach's 3516-pound dry weight is 110 pounds less than the Sián, and the new car's combination of a claimed 2.8-second zero-to-62-mph time, 8.6-second zero-to-124-mph time and 221-mph top speed are well outside the frame of reference for any original Countach.
As with the Aventador, the Countach uses both an automated single-clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive, with torque sent to the front axle through an electronically controlled central coupling. It also gets pushrod suspension all around and rear-wheel steering. A front lift system will also be standard. Although the relationship between both is clear, this Countach is also a much larger car than the original. The new car is 29 inches longer, 14.9 inches wider, and 2.8 inches higher—and it sits on a 106.3-inch wheelbase, identical to that of the Aventador, which is 10 inches bigger.
Just 112 of the new Countach will be built, a number chosen to correspond to the LP112 project name of the original car. Lamborghini hasn't released any pricing, but as it says the entire allocation has been sold before the car's official launch, it has clearly judged demand for this new version of its most iconic model perfectly.

Top of the line Mustang, Camaro, Challenger or Vette. I wouldn't mind a revamped/updated homage to the 'Cuda either.
I would need an automatic as I am unable to manually shift gears due to leg problems. A friend just bought a totally black 2021 Camaro SS and another got a very clean 2017 Corvette! ;D

Yes, it was on twice a week. Tues & Thurs?
The first episode of the week was a cliffhanger resolved in the following episode.
"Seatbelt, Robin?"
"Right, Batman!"
"Atomic batteries to power...turbines to speed!"

My late brother, my youngest, had a '57 oval window Beetle in black Imron paint with a 36 HP motor, the pullback rag-top roof and a tube radio in the dash. He "Cal Bug'd" it and I know he wanted to do more. He spoke about wanting a '54 or earlier for the Semaphores.
I almost bought a van but he told me not to as hitting anything in one of those was not a pretty sight. Still...One with Safari Windows would've been sweet parked next to his Bug.
Thank you for that memory.

Oh yeah I have some nice cars but the 57 gets more love than all of them combined. People will stop their cars on the highway to tell me they had one or ask what year or just say its great. Strangers come up to me in parking lots and chat about the car for half an hour. It brings joy and happiness to other drivers. I mean I love my Z06 but the beetle makes other people Happy having drivers says hello and wave and honk vs just flicking you off is a change of pace somedays when down I take it for a drive and all the positive energy it gets cheers me up. I love the Vans or well buses as they call them check out https://www.thesamba.com/vw/ I am all about the oval window. People may say these are not family cars but I have put a car seat in both
