I don't think it carries a stigma as look as it's not nude. Those nude Derek Anthony pictures were horrific. I don't see why he is complaining about gays emailing either, that's like a pornstar being mad that some of her fans want to bang her. Comes with the territory.

I think Gustavo might have been counting on the fact that few people knew he posed for musclegallery and, perhaps, was hoping that no evidence of it existed.
His page on musclegallery.com was removed a looong time ago so unless you saw it back in the day you would never know about it . . .
Similar nonsense came out of Mark Dugdale’s camp last year. In a thread on Christian hypocrisy someone asked why Mark “the Christian” Dugdale would pose for what is basically a gay porn/erotica site like musclegallery.com. One of his friends/defenders here (I think it was Matt C) claimed that Dugdale didn’t realize what musclegallery.com was and thought he was just going for a regular photo shoot.

Anyone who pays to go to a BB show or buys those videos & magazines and claims they have no interest in touching or being touched by the muscle is in serious denial.

Although I agree with a lot of the stuff you say, I totally disagree with this. While I enjoy looking at a BB'ers, I can say with certainty that looking at a man and touching them is completely different. When I see a physique like Arnold (my all time favorite), I admire it and imagine myself looking like that, in no way do I think about touching him. Sorry bro, but your wrong here. Maybe because you’re gay, you project that on others. No offense, that's cool, it's just that when I see a picture of a really hot female I couldn’t imagine anyone (even other women) who wouldn’t want to touch such a thing of beauty. But, I know that’s not the case, and I'm not going to project my desire on others.

We’re talking about the population of people who devote their time, resources, and recreation (sometimes for years) to muscle life: going to shows, subscribing to magazines, buying overpriced DVDs, posing at expos with one bodybuilder after another. If you have one or two pix of your ideal physique for inspiration, I’ll buy that. But that’s not the population I’m talking about.

I'm sorry to tell you this - but those of us "clearly not gay" don't spend very much time thinking about such things, and don't want to know the answer when such a question is posed. Methinks that anyone who would so eagerly ("TELL ME!")want to know such an answer (or who would even entertain such a scenario in his head for more than a nanosecond without heaving) is at least a little "bi-curious", as they say. I don't think it has anything to do with sexuality. I am attracted to women, but I won't just look at pictures of women's physiques in a nonsexual way, nor do I care about fitness contests, which I should if there is a parallel between contests and sexual preference.

while I do know many gay guys who regularly attend contests, none of them buy up all the DVDs. Nor are guys who are attracted to muscle all attracted to the same type of muscle. Sure, there are some guys who are really into the mass monsters. But many more find that unappealing. The Musclemania Superbody DVDs are probably more popular in the gay community than the Olympia DVDs.
Nor is everything always about sex. Sometimes its enough just to observe beauty.

Bay, I kinda have to agree with Dingleberry on this one. Now I have never been to a bodybuilding show, and I do not buy the magizes any more, I did when I was younger. I have alway admired the aesthetics of a well built physique, both male and female. As a teenager I read Pumping Iron, and I somewhat followed pro bodybuilding, back in the Robbie Robinson days, but it was always in the context of wanting to look like that(even tho I knew I couldn't as a super ecto skinny kid), much like I would watch Gayle Sayers or OJ Simpson and then go run around the back yard wanting to be like them. I have definitely learned from being on this board, that there is a lot of gayness involved in bodybuilding, but I also think there is a large group that just respects the kind of dedication it takes to have a great physique, and also just enjoys working out themselves for multiple reasons.

I talked to Tomas Benagli from Italy who is one of the Pros on MG. He said he was never treated better and never got paid more anywhere. Finally somebody treats bodybuilders with the respect they deserve. But everybody here has a lot of trash to offer. Get a life!!
