Another part of my childhood gone
Amen to that my brother.
I knew him and worked with him a few times back in 2016.
A few of us went to a Chinese buffet after the comic convention and we were sitting across from each other. I acted cool, but I was in total fanboy glee talking to him. He told me he loved my energy, I told him the Road Warriors are the reason why I have it. He signed the headboard to my WWF Wrestlefest arcade machine and did a promo with it for my daughter presenting it to her. It was awesome.
RIP to the greatet tag team of all time.

Another genetic issue?
When I was a kid it was the shit when they used to come out to Sabbath's Iron Man @ 1:05.
RIP

Road Warriors were the Best, RIP!

King Kong Bundy told me he was intimated by Animal's strength.
He said he felt like a feather in Animal's grip.
Animal (Joe) told me his best bench was 635lbs when Ted Arcidi held the record with 705lbs. He said if he wasn't constantly traveling around the world and battling injuries and could've dedicated himself to a strict powerlifting program, he would've beaten it. I have no doubt he could. Check out what King Kamali said about his strength (go to 2:20).

Truth.

I do. Everyone said that at the time about beating Arcidi's record, always had some sort of excuse, yet no one did except for trained PL's many years later.
Arcidi still holds 2 Raw Records for heaviest bench done in full meets, 37 years later, so.

I don't.
You have to think about the fact that Animal was wrestling almost 350 days a year at that time and did that for DECADES. They were the biggest thing in the world in the eighties and he's still putting up that much weight? Considering also all the partying, bad food, flights, and traveling he was doing? No matter what you say, we weren't able to see his best. Animal said to me he didn't get a full night's sleep for over two decades and suffered multiple injuries and he was still benching over 600 regularly. A strict year of dedication to benching with all the proper protocols and I'm sure he would've done it.
Jesse Ventura said the same thing. Animal, Hawk, Rick Rude, Smash, Warlord, Nikita Koloff, and Ken Norton (who was a world arm wrestling champion and competed in a few World Strongest man competitions and benched 600 regularly) were regulars in his gym since they were kids and Animal was always the most impressive when it came to pure strength. That's some good endorsements right there.

Animal was insanely strong. His son had a decent career in the NFL as well. RIP

Haku would have destroyed him through

Great post but I believe you mean Scott Norton here, Ken Norton was the boxer.

Thanks for the correction.
Scott Norton was a 350 pound beast and best friends with Hawk.
Here's an interesting piece of info. Animal told me that when Scott was wrestling in Japan for little money, Hawk would send his parents a bunch of money every month to help support them. Scott never knew about it until after Hawk passed in 2003. That's the type of guy Road Warrior Hawk was. Animal gushed when he would tell me stories about Hawk. One of the toughest and most genuine people you would ever meet. I'm sure he's happy Animal is with him now.

One of the strongest pro wrestlers. Rip

Their face paint and spiked armor were inspired by the Mad Max film The Road Warrior; they were the first wrestlers to bring a theme from a movie into the wrestling world.

That's a great story and a side to Hawk not many would get to hear about. How did you get to know Animal?
By the way, you mentioned owning the Wrestlefest arcade machine! How cool is that! I remember being about 9 years old and being absolutely obsessed with that game at the arcade. At the time there was no game on the Sega Mega Drive that was anywhere near as good, what with all the wrestlers and moves, etc! Very cool if you own one today.

Here's a fun story I wrote about it with Animal included.
Enjoy.
