check out the 2011 version it's not that bad.

The 1982 Carpenter version had it all. Great suspenseful soundtrack. The eerie cold, atmosphere. The subtle humor thrown in...(Childs..'You believe in this voodoo bullshit?') The tension between the characters wondering who was 'The Thing?' The gore and special effects, way ahead of its time. One of my favorite movies of all time. I recently turned my 25 year old, who loves horror movies, on to this movie and he was speechless after he watched it. Who was 'the thing' at the end? McCready or Childs?
