I went to my first PT session yesterday to help work on an issue with my lower back. They wanted to do this dry needling shit on me. Kind of like accupuncture except they don't target nerves but just direct into the muscles. I told them to hold off until I did some research on it.
Any of you guys ever do dry needling and did it help or make things worse?

My gf offers this service with her center. The doctor is a chiro/pt specialist who comes in only on Tuesdays. Does it work? Sometimes. I rate it like Acupuncture. It brings great relief to some, ok relief to others, and for some it doesn't do anything at all.
How well for you? You really won't know until you try it. I know friends personally that had it done and they like it. Though one was getting it for attempting to break up excessive scar tissue. He had the least results out of the ones I know personally who went.
It seems that the ones that get the best results are the ones that also incorporate ibuprofen and mild stretching (yoga poses) into their recovery efforts. Avoid trauma type recovery attempts like deep tissue massage or those "thumper" massage guns.
Also, look on Groupon for coupons for a session before paying the PT directly. It can be cheaper. That is what this guy does. He advertises on Groupon and then sees his clients in my gf business so that they are separated from his full rate clients at his other place of business.
