It’s pretty straight forward, don’t do sketchy deals.... then someone takes a brown paper bag under the table and does a sketchy deal which the govt then has to fight against. China gets angry. Blame politicians.

Aussies are roughly 20 million strong and their government wants expansion aka "fill ins" from poorer countries.
Having all these bugs swarming in is a death wish... especially the the property hunters.
