When giving speeches and talking to audiences, I’ve often been struck by how few Americans, even those who are highly educated, have any idea where the energy they use in their home or business comes from. I’ve asked college students where the electric power is generated, and they shrug and then point to the electric socket in the wall. The electric currents just come magically through that plug.

Lower standard of living = less need for electric.

Portland General Electric services the area where I live. Essentially, they operate wholly and jointly owned hydroelectric, natural gas, coal, wind and solar generating plants. They also purchase it on the wholesale market. It's a little more complicated than this, but these are the basics.

1/3 of the energy is purchased.......
Where do you think they're buying electricity from, a wholesaler? China?

Most likely nuclear plants from neighboring states.
NM is like that too, if you look at the profile there is a lot of renewable energy produced, but most of the energy we consume comes from nuclear in Arizona.
There is no such thing as Green Energy, it takes fossil fuels to create Green Energy. They are made with it, constructed with it, transported with it, energized by it and consumed by it.
It's not going anywhere, we are just pissing in the wind thinking we can go Green.

Hope this wasn’t a new revelation for you.

I know. It's just funny that Prime posted the energy breakdown implying how "green" Portland is.
-
Even though they own the generating plants they still have to get the nat gas and coal from someplace too.
It doesn't just magically appear.
If Biden's Green Deal raises the cost of coal and gas your rates will go up.

Really. Can you explain how I implied Portland is green?
Nothing in my post was my opinion. It is information which can be found on PGE's website.
https://portlandgeneral.com/about/energy-future/how-we-generate-electricity
PGE purchases power from the Federal Government which owns and operates Bonneville Dam, located on the Columbia river.
Oregon uses no nuclear power to generate electricity.

All the used radioactive fuel rods from those nuke plants from the past 50-60 years just sits next to the plant in a cooling pool.
They got no clue what to do with it. It's crazy.

Have SpaceX send it into space. ;D
That's the problem with nuclear.

Both sides of the aisle suffer from magical thinking. On the right, it's religion. On the left, it's big government and these silly delusional policies they endorse. Any one who studies this shit for 5 minutes knows we are never having a "green economy" unless it means our standard of living is going to sink to that of Bangladesh.

Maybe baby Jesus will return and turn water into clean energy?
He's been due back for a while now.

Thanks. It helps. You said that I implied Portland was green. This proves the post was not my opinion. PGE may have inplied it but not me.
If you find information that suggests PGE is lying, you should post that.

You posted in a thread that was about America converting to green energy. According to the information you shared 74% of Portland energy comes from fossil fuels and/or nuclear energy.
So you’re against renewable resources being used for electricity. I apologize I misunderstood your point.

What does gas have to get to per gallon for them to admit they were wrong about Biden? Certainly anything over $5 a gallon in most places (maybe $7 in hardcore left places). We'll see.

I think it will hit $5 within a year or two.
Most people are morons, they will still blame Trump for it anyway.

Maybe by early next year. Once the energy killing changes take effect it will start to skyrocket, especially because there'll be no end in sight.

Onkalo, (Hiding Place) Perfect name but imperfect solution.

It jumped $.50/gallon within 5 days of him killing the Keystone pipleline. Warren Buffet is happy since his railroad will be continuing to haul more oil for years. Him and Gates are two of the most evil and manipulative fuckers in the world along with Obumma. And they are all friends.

It's also worse for the environment hauling all that stuff by railcars

You think they don't know that, and actually give a shit? All these fuckers flying on private jets talking about climate change hoax. Gore has made a killing over 20 years doing this, writing books, and doing docs about how we're so fucked. We were supposed to be dead 20 years ago, and people keep listening and believing him. I think AOC is planning to take his gig when he retires......that was the real 12 year number she came up with. ;D
Biden has already killed 80% of my energy regarding the future of this country, so mission accomplished.
