Title: Is a sciatic episode tied to pain in just one knee?
Post by: Marty Champions on February 06, 2021, 06:54:05 PM
My sciatic doesnt bother me much anymore except for 5 minites in the morning 1out of 10 pain . Planking and hollow holds were the key to fixing low back

Except pain in knee feels like its weak on inside of right knee cap, like some nerve in my knee is off. I can run a mile at best but only do a couple 100 yd sprints a day, but im not getting full stride or power cause the right knee has pain mostly at the partial squat full extension range. My left knee is fine

How old are you now? Seems like you are too young to be having these kinds of issues.

Young people get injured too. Old people get injured a lot.

Thank's I never would have thought of that.

Honestly, what is with folks on Getbig lately? Everyone seems to taking what is said far too seriously. :) I was kidding Marty.

Yes, you are quite right old folks like me are more prone to injuries and when we get injured the recovery is much harder. Last couple of years, when I've had my annual physical the doctor queries me as to whether I've experience any falls. He never asked it when I was younger.

The problem I mentioned to you that I was having with my shoulder, has not gotten any better...maybe it's even worse or I am just sick of it hurting. This has been going on since September. My doctor wanted me to make an appointment in a month if it didn't improve....that was five months ago. I keep thinking it will go away. I also worry that it is something horrible. My grandmother broke her femur when she was in her 60's. It resulted in the doctors discovering she had cancer and it was throughout her entire body. Needless to say she didn't live too long after that.

Shit like this preys on my mind because I am old and I am going to die sooner rather than later. I'm not afraid of death, I just want to live some more before that happens.

Not lately. Who knows, maybe it would help. Worst possibility is that I'll wimp out and fall on my face. At least it is not that far from the floor. Seriously, there are certain movements where I am so weak that I can barely lift a cup of coffee to take a sip. Clearly, I've did something to fuck it up. It hurts the most during the night. So much so that it wakes me up. I discovered that taking an Aleve helps.

I'll leave the rock hard delts to you. That I can still fill out my shirts and sweaters with out the arm seam sagging half way down my arm, is enough to make me happy.  ;D

I've had sciatic pain but never in the knees but I've read it happens. Interesting article I found in a search - seems there may be other causes for your issues: https://www.spine-health.com/blog/does-sciatica-cause-knee-pain

The sciatic nerve extends all the way to the bottom of your feet. A pinched sciatic nerve can seriously impede someones ability to walk comfortably. Nephropathy is a serious problem that can be debilitating. It is better now, but in the past, I had times when the pain in my right foot was so bad that I could hardly take another step.

One time when on an outing in downtown Portland with my kids and my grand-kids including my first great-grandchild, my foot suddenly went completely numb. The pain was so unbearable that I could barely take one more step. Rather than screw up their plans to take the prepaid tour of Portland's underground tunnels, I called Uber and went home. I was really bummed.

Thank goodness it is better right now. I honestly though I was going to become wheelchair bound like my wife had been the last several years of her life.

Sciatica is probably one of the most chronically irritating pains there is. I found that any weight lifting movement that involved my lower back or hamstrings  always triggered it.  I stopped doing anything like that. Pain has now been gone for over 5 years .
