From what I read and heard they didn't. But they felt it was the right thing to do regardless of the Republicans lack of a moral compass when it comes to all things Trump. It was an opportunity for the American people to hear and see the evidence and convict him in the court of public opinion. Doubt it worked very well but I think that was their goal.

It didn’t work well because the house managers selectively edited video, got called on it, and the defense showed countless examples of Democrats doing worse.
