can anybody share some experience of working with coaches online?
is it worth it?

With the right one, it is. My close friend is one and got me shredded to the bone for my one and only contest.

No, you can research anything on your own for free.

Multiple times. People will tell you that Dorian never did it but it’s much easier to get in shape when all you have to do is follow the program and do the work, particularly when you’re working a real job. For the most part, Dorian just hung around the gym, ate and supplemented. He was also Dorian. Most people trying to get in shape for one show a year, or something like that, have real lives with jobs, families, etc. A good coach will modify the program based on how you’re feeling and other input. The plastic trophies don’t come cheap but no hobby does. Boats, cars, golf course memberships, whatever you’re into at the time costs money.
