Losing one's thyroid is life changing but not usually life threatening. Hopefully, the cancer was caught in the early stages. If that's the case he should be fine. He'll have to take levothyroxine, a synthetic thyroid hormone for the rest of his life. Best wishes to Dave.

I've got better things to be praying on than for a guy who spent the majority of his adult life jabbing a needle in his ass to look big for the other guys.

Who is the him you speak of? If it is Palumbo, are you saying his thyroid cancer is the result of steroid abuse?

There are many different types of thyroid cancer. What causes it is unknown. There is no known connection between it and steroid abuse. It is fairly uncommon, occurring in a little over 1% of the population. Although it can materialize at any age, several types are more commonly found among people over 50.

Yes.  But from the heavy doses he has taken in the past, it might not be enough.

Some voices claim high dose growth hormone could be correlated to forms of thyroid cancer.

Palumbo took a lot more than just steroids! These guys are human Guinea Pigs. From a 10 second internet search you can find a host of drugs that wreak havoc on your thyroid: https://thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/9-medications-toxic-thyroid/ (https://thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/9-medications-toxic-thyroid/)

Yes.  Palumbo.  And it is unwise to take all the shit that fool took.  I was told by doctors I knew years ago that steroids help increase cell growth.  Cancer is cell growth gone wild.  This isn't Deadpool where they look for dormant mutant genes, this is reality where stupid people do stupid things and hope to be more than they are.

Palumbo is the very personification of stupid gone stupider.

Thanks for the link. It is an interesting article. Of the nine medications mentioned oral contraceptives is the only one hormonal. All of them are medications many people commonly take....except perhaps Botox which is a relatively new one. Seems as if there is a link between digestive problems and thyroid problems. The only two people I've known with thyroid issues are females.

I have to take your word regarding what Palumbo abused to enhance muscle growth because he is not someone I've paid much attention to over the years. I never aspired to have a physique like his either when he was in his prime or now. Apparently, he has been somewhat open about his misuse of steroids etc. since he'd have to be the primary source for this information.

The fairly recent inclusion of men's fitness in bodybuilding competitions seems unappreciated by some folks according to what I've read on Getbig. What is funny about that is these guys appear to be much healthier then their monster sized counterpoints. They also have physiques which hark back to days of old...before the 80's. Back in those days anabolic steroids were legal in the U.S. with a doctor's prescription. My belief is that their illegality has encouraged misuse because users self dose. This has led to practice of "if a little is good, more is better" which is stupid.

I never liked Dave, but i wish him well.

If this was solely based on abusing Thyroid meds throughout his "career" we will never know.

It's not very common in men and i can't think of another BBer that went through this.

If he was losing a kidney, i'd tell him to fuck off.

You could be correct.  Unfortunately for us, we are unable to make being stupid illegal.  Ergo, we have today's bodybuilding.  Yuck.  Be well.

Kidney and heart failure does seem common among some longtime steroid abusing bodybuilders. People that cart around a lot of extra pounds be it fat or muscle weight are definitely more subject to heart failure. Hypertension also more common among large people very often leads to kidney failure.

Probably is well worth it to him.  He's making a damn good living doing what he loves as a result of his excessive bodybuilding career.  So he'll take T3 the rest of his life.  Small price to pay.  Hopefully the rest of his health holds up and he can enjoy raising his children.

He appears to have multiple revenue streams which appear to be affording him a very enjoyable lifestyle.  No sure what the point of your question is.  You are coming off a bit catty if not jealous.  The younger generation might go so far as to say you are hating.

No, I'm being objective. You're the one who said he is making a damn good living.  Just wondering if that can happen through videos and supplements? Maybe it's factual he's living large and maybe he's not. No, I'm not jealous. I made enough money to retire at 52 and I just work part now. No, I'm not remotely rich but I'm doing alright. All I can say to you calling me catty, jealous and hating is I'm rubber and you're glue and what every you say bounces off of me and sticks to you. I will throw in, I know you are but what I'm I?

Anyway I wish him the best of health and a full recovery.

Good for Dave; he definitely seems to be in good spirits. A positive outlook goes a long way in helping someone to get well quickly. Too bad about the lymph involvement, but that seems under control with the radioactive iodine. His voice a lot less hoarse than one might expect.

As deformed as he might look is still with us,  the reference was also to Curtis Leffler, a big guy from hawaii you probably already know who was training at golds venice the same time as Dave mid 90s. The purple skin on both of them looked like the body was just screaming for oxygen. Curtis super nice guy as other hawaii and venice guys on here already know, shame he passed away so soon, strong guy. Golds venice in the 90s was something else. The training atmosphere was unbelievable.

Stretch marks are par for the course for most of us (well I'm guessing so), and he makes a deliberate effort to be lean after f**king his heart up - which is understandable

But the main 'leftovers' as far as I can see look to be things like his hands and feet - wonder if it's a cartilage/GH thing?

Iodine . Just overlooked that one right columbo?

“Although it has not been specifically studied, juicing kale concentrates the vegetable and thus potentially poses a greater risk toward iodine deficiency and hypothyroidism if ingested in large amounts on a very frequent basis,” Dr. Leung said. “These risks may be exacerbated in individuals who are already iodine deficient, and these may include those with restricted diets, such as vegetarians and vegans,” she said.

Not these numbers are necessarily accurate, but one would imagine they are based on good information. What is missing is when this was published.

Bodybuilder. Born on February 17, 1968 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States. Dave Palumbo’s net worth is estimated at 4.2 Million dollars.

Birth name: David Christopher Palumbo
Height: 5 ft 7 in (1.70 m)
Rich Piana’s Nationality: American
Began career: 1990
Contest weight: 270 lb (120 kg)
Retired weight: 235 lb (107 kg). [
Note: I question whether this is correct. For being only 5'7" he doesn't look that big.

http://www.famousnetworth.org/dave-palumbo-net-worth/

Reading several articles that included Dave's net worth the range is anywhere from $1 to $6 M. A couple of them put his net worth in the low to mid 4's.

Honestly, I doubt it's much effort on his part. This is how he looked before bodybuilding, judging by that one running pic.
He has ver favorable genetics for low bodyfat and obviuosly crazy response to drugs/training/food. Never got fat even force feeding McDonalds.

Where do you get your b.s. from.  Dude has been in the supp, and training biz, and sells exotic snake sales which probably does better than most of us would think.  Been on YT for at least 10 years now.  He still has paid ads on many of his vids, and I'm sure he gets a cut from Titan for recommending them.  He showed his house, and seperate studio building as well as property and neighborhood he lives in.  If it wasn't at least worth $1.5 million b4 it is now, and likely more as homes and property are soaring in FL and TX.

I wouldn't be surprised with all he has going on if he pulls in $750K-1M gross per year.  Tons of write offs with the businesses or which he mentioned he pays like 60K per month for IT and internet.....I'd say he's doing alright.

As for those saying T3 usage when competeing.  He has always talked about how fast his metabolism was, showed pics of him as a very scrawny teen runner, mentioned all the shit he had to eat to maintain let alone add weight, and is still vascular as fuck.  He might have tried it for a show, but I believe he is one of very few pros/top national competitors that never used it.

Almost every fellow had hair at some point. Thyroid disease sometimes causes hair loss. So does genetics and male pattern baldness. Even back then, Palumbo had a big belly.

Stamina gets better as you get older, almost too good, that is if you can get it up.

Has Dave said he never used it? Doubt it. He's known to start all his clients on 1 Cytomel a day and increasing as the weeks go by to like 100mcg. At least that's what I've read, someone here knows better I'm sure. Nasser said Dave used 12 Cytomel a day, but we know Nasser was a BSer but there's no doubt he used it. You don't put everyone on it if you never used it yourself.

Dave talks shit most of the time.

Are you referring to something specific? Has Dave denied T3 use?

The worst thing Dave has done is recently when he apologized for racism. It shows weakness of character. Maybe we shouldn't judge as we aren't in his position but it doesn't sit well for many.
