Title: The blue collar bodybuilding/perma bulking era
Post by: a_pupil on May 28, 2021, 06:59:32 PM
Anyone else feel that this was the unhealthiest approach to bodybuilding for non pros?

Spending your 20 to 50s 100+ plus pounds overweight, ruining your joints and muscles from pushing the weights/intensity and destroying your stomach from overeating.

Roids alone are bad enough but when you're not staying in shape, it amplifies things.

Older guys like ukjeff/bethere on here have the best approach, staying lean, using moderate weights and being consistent year after year. Comparing him to guys from the doggcrapp generation is like night and day.

That's true....but a 5k is just a little over 3 miles.  Anyone who considers themselves fit should be able to do this.  I'm not saying that 5k's are the end all be all, but you should be able to go out and at least jog a few miles.  A lot of these bodybuilders these days probably couldn't do this.  The reality is they are on too much gear and eating too much food.

A doubt any Pro BBer could run a 5k. That's pretty sad when you think about being an "athlete".

To be fair, most olympic weightlifters and strongmen couldn't either.

I've been thinking about this for years as I was a doggcrapp disciple myself upto my mid-20s. Honestly it was the unhealthiest I've ever been. Sleep apnea, sleep paralysis etc. But you accept it as a sacrifice for making the scale go up lmao.

But recently it feels like that generation's chickens are coming home to roost.

The king of the permabulkers dante can write as many word salads as he wants, but if he's serious about health and longevity, he needs to drop 100 lbs.

So right, I overate, invested massive amounts of my free time on my diet, all for walking around over 20 percent bf at over 220 pounds
Feel much more energetic at 200 pounds at age 41 (6' 1/2")
But funny thing is some people asks if I am sick, and say I looked better when I was "fuller"
Thanks but no thanks! I plan to enjoy my abs and enjoying life without getting gassed out!
Natural bbers carry bf well and don't risk losing 18 inch arms but I don't miss any of it. Waistline shouldn't exceed 33 inches, actually 32 inches better.

I've bought into some of this. At my biggest i was 260 pounds and generally felt like shit.

Being down around 200-210 is where i feel the best. BP is good and overall feel normal.

Too many people buy into this nonsense; sure if you want to be as big as possible, overeat and destroy your health.

If you want to live a happy life, eat decent, exercise and stay around 200 pounds.

Your organs will appreciate it.

I got away from competing a few years ago and went natural just over two years ago.  At my biggest j was 235-238 at 5’6 with abs but felt like pure shit.  I couldn’t walk 100 yards without my calves getting pumped, sleep apnea so bad that I would wake up gasping for air but hey, it was all for the gains right.  Once I smartened you I dropped everything cold turkey.  I’m now walking around at 178-180 and I’ve never felt better.  I’ve cut food drastically as well, barely any carbs and significantly less protein intake.  Strength is still solid and I even look younger lol that game is fun in your early 20s but after that, it’s time to move on in life unless you’re a top pro.

You`re fucking shredded, but you look like you weigh 150 fucking pounds.......of course since your bodyweight is close to UK Jeffs you`d wipe up the stage with him.

Zippo bodybuilding knowledge........I bet I would beat you in a contest................i f not you wouldn`t beat me by much even though you weigh 900 pounds and ingest 50 million calories a day and burn it off in about an hours time.

You sir are delusional and quite fucking clueless when it comes to contests.

It feels redicilous with how little food one can stay active once you’ve lost the excess weight.
Absolutely no point visiting those all you can eat buffets which once were the stable.

Ragging on guys who rather have longevity then be 240+lbs and dead by 50 seems a bit much.  You look like a very low level physique competitor, I assumed you looked 10x better with the way you’re posting.

OP's point is correct though.

Most of us during that era had bad info - overate, ignored conditions, did stupid workouts.

I am doing fine physically, but with better info may have avoided the two shoulder surgeries, torn diaphragm, etc....

I don't give a rats ass about some Nabba Master contest where everyone weighs 180lbs. I am trying to get bigger than I was at 25 by 45 getting lean and yes contest lean has always been easy for me getting big is a challenge. This pic is from 2019 when I had let myself get way too lean. I have added a considerable amount of quality weight since then. But yes at 25 years old I stepped on a scale at 237lbs I am going to get to 240 this time why because I can. Sorry the rest of you can't anymore and want to talk about how great you feel with less weight on your old knees. My knees are the worst here and I am going to blow the fuck up fuck the haters. By all measn stick to Yoga and a non gmo vegan based diet. I am eating steak and getting stronger and bigger and not like oh that old guy got in shape hell no more like damn wtf happened to you
You`re a fucking moron................ton s of guys in NABBA weigh well over 250 pounds and make you look like the dogshit you are.

You`ll leave do nothing bodvbuildingwise, trust me on that, though you talk a good game.

Might be in good condition, or it might be Tren related. (fake muscle, cant run a mile, etc.).
Small right bicep, small right pec.

The 30 lbs in a year thing, I'm guessing 'gassed up on gear'. So yeah, fake muscle...
Only Drug Miller can gain 30 lbs of shredded muscle in a year.  :o

Yes small right bicep and pec because the right bicep and pec and shoulder were torn and injured March 19th that is why I am training hard now trying to bring them back up. The entire Arm was black due to blood pooling from the Torn pec and subscrapela injury on 3/19 its going to take a bit to catch back up to the left

Not in comparison to most 43 year old bodybuilders. Yes a few are still in phenom condition but a lot of former top pros look like dogshit at 43 years old. You`d place dead last just because you are delusional.

Lot of iditos think they can compete and it`s a rude fucking awakening and a long ride home when their mirror at home was a funhouse mirror.

Next to a real competitive bodybuilder your weak points would stick out like a sore thumb.

Honestly this is great news. I actually do suffer from anorexia and it makes it very difficult to get big. Every time I start putting on some weight I start pinching my side and thinking I am getting too fat and bloated and sloppy. I then wind up starving myself small again. Right now I am as heavy as I have been in over a decade and starting to feel fat I just caught myself pinching my damn side at breakfast. But Wes my biggest fucking hater in the world says I am very lean so I can't be fat. He says I still look skinny and not 225. That means I am doing the right things and my body is holding the weight well. That means I can keep eating. Oh and I am 226 right now at 11am I may be knocking on 230 by bedtime.

how anyone could dare say they're involved in "fitness" and cant run a 5k is beyond me

How many pros can run a half a mile faster than a chubby soccer mom? Back in the day you had guys like Lou Ferrigno that ran a 2:21 half mile in the super stars show and won the car deadlift competition in the World Strongest man against power lifters.  You will not see that again with the current crop of bodybuilders.

Regarding the perma look it's in every gym. Look big in clothes or even a tee shirt but when the shirt comes off on the beach it's is not an in shape look.

I don't use Tren. I am on HRT prescribed medication only and have never beat up a woman in my life. But got it you are another bitter hater. I mean I get it from Wes his last pic he shared was 2009 he is like 70 years old now with no gains he is bitter. What is your excuse?

Bhanky,
Has SCN been in touch about listing your victory in the contest?
Are you following up?

Competitive bodybuilding is not an athletic activity anymore than female beauty pageants are athletic activities.

You can be a lousy athlete and be a successful bodybuilder.

Arnold is not an athlete.

Roids alone are bad enough but when you're not staying in shape, it amplifies things.

Older guys like ukjeff/bethere on here have the best approach, staying lean, using moderate weights and being consistent year after year. Comparing him to guys from the doggcrapp generation is like night and day.

one of the guys I see a lot of the 'gram is Dusty Henshaw - been following him a lot even before "the accident"

but the way he trains and at his age - I know he has a mutant contract but now since he moved back in with that woman in SC after "the accident" - but going back to ponding food, covering up with big ass XXXL clothes in the gym - taking vids of you rowing 4 plates on hammer -
Id figure him and that woman would of done a cut for the summer but maybe they're getting ready for the Olympia expo ?

getting the large back neck thing like Big Nick

That’s just generalized American obesity

Are you losing weight, Bhanky?
Looking leaner.
