ok, i just got this catalog from vitacost.com and there are two multivatimins - synergy max and synergy platinum. the first one is 26 capsules + 8 softgels a day; the second one 26 capsules + 6 softgels + 2 chewtabs. isn't that crazy? how many pills a day can one take? is it safe for the liver, stomach, etc.? also, the first one is $199.99; the other is $279.99, both for a 30-day (!) supply, what a rip-off.
right now, i take 4 capsules of glc and a multivitamin, and this is it (on back and leg days i throw in extra 2 calcium/ magnesium/ potassium tablets). i know some pros carry with them boxes full of pills, but how many do you guys take on average?

I take a shitload of vitamins/supplements, but none of them multi. The main one's I take are vit C, E, ZMA, Fish oil, Acetyl-L Carnitine, BCAA's, Liver Tabs, and Arginine. For vit C and E, I take about 4x what they recommend on the bottle. I don't think those vitacost you mentioned are worth the price.
Edit - I forgot all about glutamine, I use a shitload of that too.

here is what i take , Morn, 1 x multi ,3 x fish oil caps, 4 x tribulus, 2 x cholestlow , 1x 1000mg vit c ,1 x coq10, 2x hmb, 10 grm glutamine
prio to work out , 1 x serve efficent creatine, 2 x hmb.
post workout, 1 x serve efficent creatine ,4 x bcaas.
Eve, 1 x multi, 3 xfish oil, 4 x zma,1 x 5htp, 2 x cholestlow , 1 1000mg vit c, 10 xgrm glutanine,2 x hmb.
I just chuck in the mouth and swallow them all in one go !!!

I usually take:
2 multi vitamins
2 multi minerals
600 IU's of Vitamin E (on training days)
1000 mg's of Vitamin C
Sometimes I take one or two of a supplement called Sleep Solutions (made by VitaminShoppe) before bed.

Decent meaning that I have as much muscle as the average guy. I certainly don't have enough according to bodybuilding standards ;D

gosh, guys, is it safe in the long run to take so many pills? dingleberry, hrdcor, princess, any thoughts/info on the detrimental effects of taking a shitload of pills or are there none? i recall a post i read somewhere years ago – a concerned girl said something like "my boyfriend is serious about bodybuilding and takes some 150 pills a day. is it normal and harmless?" and there were many replies that said 150 a day could be above average but still nothing unusual. personally i think it's crazy. i want to enjoy my life, go packpacking or whatever without the thought "shit, i am gonna lose 5 lbs of muscle over a three-day hike" or something like that, and without carrying a whole pharmacy on my back.

i want to enjoy my life, go packpacking or whatever without the thought "shit, i am gonna lose 5 lbs of muscle over a three-day hike" or something like that, and without carrying a whole pharmacy on my back.
I think a lot of it depends on what your goals are, if you are serious about bodybuilding then supplementation is almost necessary because of the restricted diet and the goal to grow/maintain/preserve muscle.
I can tell you that dieting while supplementing is about 100% easier then with nothing at all. Last year I went into my shows not knowing a thing about supplements and paid the price on stage. THis year I have been much smarter, the dieting has been much easier and I will hopefully bring a completely different package to the stage.
If your goals are to "enojoy life" and not worry about using pills then don't!

Actually, I get over a gram of cinnamon a day - you would puke adding that much to a shake (plus, there are a few different qulity levels for it - which you can't get in the spice aisle).

Like $50-60 or so. I get them mostly from www.swansonvitamins.com - great pricing. Now I might add that not all of this if for "Bodybuilding", some is just for general health, anti-oxidents, prevention, etc.
Also I forgot to put "1 potassium" on there.
