Trickle charging with an oldschool battery charger effectively overcharging it?

How much time are you willing to invest to achieve an uncertain outcome with a $100 item?

This is a hairbrained scheme. Buy a new battery and treat it well.

Just buy a new battery. Once the lead plates get sulfate crystals in them the battery is shot. It is possible in some cases to break this sulfate layer down but it takes forever and really isn't worth the time.

Lead plates wear. There is no way around it besides new ones.

I did extend a battery using the epsom salts idea.

You add epsom salts to each cell.  Look it up on youtube.

This will extend the life of the battery for awhile, like a year or two.
