Alright Getbiggers you are all invited to participate in this thread. Its not just about me its about everyone even Wes. No gym is too small or too grand all home gyms are great gyms. You don't need a lot just some weights and a little motivation. I am sure many of you have extensive setups and someone is working out on a homemade wooden bench and a pullup bar lets see them all. Also I have a fullset of dumbells they are just spread all over instead of neatly racked and put away in my weight room
-
Just a light barbell and some dumbells at home but will be buying a few more sets of dumbells now that they appear to be back in stores.
During the height of the pandemic fitness equipment was non-existant since most gym closed down.
These days just want to train to look a best as I can for my age and to be healthy.

it changes pretty much every few years. I've sold over a ton of plates. and a few other items gave away a stepper. trashed a ferrigno pec dec and a jubinville curling bench and hack squat, lurie t-bar row and grip machine. sold numerous misc bars, here's a few pics there's more stuff in the hall and other side room.

Just dumbbells for me now. Got rid of the Olympic bar, bench and weights years ago.

Greatest ad ever! Made Atlas millions of dollars. I first saw these ads in comic books in the 1970's.

I mainly go to Sportsclub to train because it has a sauna, steam room, pool, hot tub, raquetball courts, etc. However i do keep a mini setup for days i cant get there. I made a video on it but it now has my new GR8Flex machine instead of the Total Gym. Because i work from home, i have a limited amount of space to train but i dont want my shit out in the living room like some people. In all, i spent 2300 dollars for the setup...most of it from the Bowflex. But i like it and i get a great workout

Cool set up Cook !!
Thanks it’s not fancy but it has served me well as I have got older and grumpier. It’s an old barn that I filled with mostly second hand equipment. I had my hip replaced this past year so I have been able to train by myself without having to worry about tripping over some kid taking a selfie. And then of course with the pandemic shutting down gyms everywhere I haven’t missed a workout.Just thinking about it I haven’t been in a commercial gym in five years.

How so??? Two pieces of equipment...can get a full body workout, the cardio on the Bowflex Max Trainer is unmatched and it fits in the limited space i have. I mainly hit the gym because of all the amenities but this is perfect for when i can't

Photo of mine would be essentially a patch of dirt at the moment. Finally got someone to tear down the old toxic asbestos laden outhouse, break up the old shallow concrete floor and start prepping for some proper foundations. Mentioned it on here before, but I'm actually finally doing it...
Decided to go with partial plumbing (i.e. no sewage/toilet, just water) as it was (if I'm honest) much cheaper, and I was afraid it might become repurposed as a granny flat at some point
Once I get the thing built, going to come back here for suggestions, but I'm going to warn you right now - I'm getting a Smith Machine (no h0mo) ;D

Nice....all I have is some dumbells and a light barbell.......just trying to get leaner,a bit stronger, and to look fit as well as to be fit..........I train with very little rest which makes lighter weight feel heavy real quick.
Gonna get some pink dumbells soon and really start blasting and blitzing !! LOL ;D

yes that will get it done.At this stage my training is a series of non stop cycles too.I guess it wouldn’t be too smart for me to try barbell squatting again. Oh well

But smart enough to ask for home gym pics to get the location of your houses from the photo properties.
If you right click and remove properties, no problem, right? Is that the Exif data or something?
However, I tested the theory on funk's photo. Nothing against funk, but I made the assumption he uploaded the photo as is and didn't mess with the properties (if not he can chime in)....didn't see any info other than the pixels......

Most gyms today are filled with selfie taking, phone diddling morons, who know zero about training.
Annoying big-time.

I just have a power cage, adjustable bench, chin up/dip rack, 300 pounds of plates, 45 pound barbell and dumbbells from 10 to 80 pounds. Also have a ton of slam balls, bands, ropes, chains, a few kettle bells and a full kickboxing setup in the garage for cardio.
I acquired everything used over the last 10 years or so, maybe have $2k in it.
Only use it when i don't want to go to the gym. Was great during Covid, but i don't have too many options.

Yes ;)
To be fair, it is not the right time to buy gym equipment.
Everything is ridiculous overpriced.
you have to wait 1-2 Years to see good prices again..
But everything is better than a total-gym.
You will find instructions online to build your own gym out of wood..

I bought my stuff 13 years ago..but 2300$ is more than enough for a fully equipped home-gym.

I used to have a veritable ton of equipment........left it all in Masachusettes.

20 years old, held by duct tape, but still usable! Dumbbells from 5 to 45 plus 65 and 70s. Bench plus bowflex I bought in a yardage, and dip bar.

Good layout Straw. How do you like the silencer pads?
I like your overhead storeage the best out of everything.
that's funny
I kind of wish I didn't have the those shelves sometimes because I could have a better rack/cage set up
I threw this together on the fly starting from the day after they closed the gyms in the bay area
we had a two week head start before that started happening elsewhere
those drop pads are obviously good for protecting my dumbbells and my garage floor but I also use them for other things
you can see the chest supported row set up where I use it to prop up the bench
I also use them with the pull up bar and dip set up
I use put them on either side and use them as a step off
-
What more do you need, other than possibly more plates?
I can get some great workouts in, but these days i like to change things up and find more value in machines and cable exercises.

My floors are built the same as any other house. The only distinction difference is my walls with the braces as a manufactured home is built in sections on a productuon lines. I did not do any real upgrades so i do have formica kitchen counters sinks. Its just that i mainly train at Sportsclub..its a 20 minute drive from my home and it used to be 15 minutes when i worked from my office. My setup is only for when i cant make it to the gym along with being compact for the limited space i have because the other half of my 1 extra room is my home office. With that being said, i get a hearty workout with my equipment. Along with the usual fair, i have a number of attachments like a dip bar, pull up attachment , and a bicep bar which is used with a manta ray. It is real weight because its my own weight and can outmatch a number of other gym equipment. I would love to have a rack in my home but it doesnt fit so i make due with the space available as i have no intention of putting in my living room or any other parts of my house like some people
Yesterday was dips and pullups

This is far better than what I currently have for at home workouts, which is 2 set's of lightweight dumbbells, a power twister bar and the Jaquish Biomedical X3 Bar Elite which I bought a little while back. I also have been doing body-weight exercises since the gyms closed (squats, push-ups and core exercises). I'm ready to go back to working out at the gym where the range of equipment and therefore exercises is nearly endless.
-
the Jaquish Biomedical X3 Bar Elite which I bought a little while back.
Is it a valuable product ? a bit expansive but for travel it can worth it.?

It's way over-priced but it works.

Yes, this equipment is a bit expensive. Not as expensive as a gym membership is for many people or what someone who travels a lot pays to use gyms on a per visit basis. At least it is solidly constructed. The bands seem like they will last a long time. Surprisingly, his suggested routines do work if feeling sore following a work out is any indicator. To my way of thinking, it is only expensive if you buy it and then don't use it. I use mine on a regular basis because it is easily accessed (I pull the box containing all of the equipment out from under the bed). I also use it because when you follow the routine as suggested, it literally takes about 15 minutes to complete. I can workout anytime of the day or night without disturbing others since it is virtually noise free....expect for loud breathing. There is no clanging of weights or other associated noise with weight training.

You had me at "loud breathing".
-
The bar/bands/platform look like a solid product and the reasoning behind it is sound.
But that price goes way beyond being reasonable.
You could buy quality bands from Rogue, JC, Elite FTS etc and make that thing for about 20% of the cost, with all the quality.

I`m 99 +3/4 % sure that was made by Ed.

Everyone should have a pullup bar cheap doesn't take up much space and a great workout

The bar/bands/platform look like a solid product and the reasoning behind it is sound.
But that price goes way beyond being reasonable.
You could buy quality bands from Rogue, JC, Elite FTS etc and make that thing for about 20% of the cost, with all the quality.
I guess. The bar is a pretty sophisticated design, but the platform could be made of wood. There are X3 Elite bands and there are lots of other bands out there which may or may not be as good. The bands I've seen at various gyms can't hold a candle to the one that come with the X3 Elite system.
What do you think of the Jaquish training program? You do one set to exhaustion for each exercise. Up to 40 reps.....I can come close to that many reps. Each rep is slow and deliberate. Not like the way you see guys using bands in the pump room videos.

Is the program posted online where I can check it out?

Yes it is. Here's the link: https://www.jaquishbiomedical.com/x3-program/ Scroll down to the individual exercises. I didn't here him say anything about it being just one set but that's definitely part of the program. You also aren't supposed to increase the resistance or move to the next level of exercises until you reach the 40 rep stage. Hopefully, I'll get there before I die of old age.....oh wait, I'm already old. :)

I think the program can be effective, and be so without stressing the joints much.
Bands are a bit tricky, since you can really squeeze them at the contraction points, and 40 reps of THAT would be tough.
I mimicked the biceps one yesterday, since you guys posted it, but only did 2 x 12, but the pump up was pretty insane.
Good luck with it.
