Title: European Union Commision Discussing 100 Percent Auto Emissions cuts by 2035

For automakers, any tightening of CO2 emissions for passenger cars and vans will mean that the pace of electrification will need to be quickly stepped up. Among the proposals reportedly under discussion in the European Commission are a 60 percent emissions cut by 2030 followed by 100 percent cut by 2035 – meaning it would be practically be impossible to sell internal-combustion engine vehicles by then.

I dont have a problem with forward thinking,  if this is the natural evolution of the motorized vehicle  than so be it. There was a time when society was built around horse and buggy as the primary mode of transportation. We would still be  a few decade away from eliminating combustion engines completely.

But...

Will China follow suit?

What are the long term issues on the environment with electric based cars?
