as i do not have one at home, can anyone tell me a good exercise apart from seated barbell raises? i want to hit the whole calf.

Squat all the way down, below parallel, and do calf raises while in a full squat position

Most seated machines don't target the gastrocnemius muscle as well as keeping the legs straight. Alternative would be donkey raises.

Do calf raises on stairs on one leg until it becomes unbearable, then repeat with the other leg.....short rest, and repeat for 6-8s sets making sure to get a full extension and contraction............l ink your mind to your calves.
Thank me later.
PS-Dont start out with 6-8 sets gradually work up to it if you like walking.

My calf’s respond just as well to walking the golf course regularly as they do to lifting weights.

Surprised no one mentioned one leg calf raises assisted by keeping balance next to an ice machine.
Paper bag calf raises while positioned in a stall work just fine as an alternative.

If you have room for a chair you have room for a seated calf raise get one

I have a smith-machine in my garage gym. I pull up a old York utility bench, place a 2x4 under my toes, and a bar-pad on the smith-bar.

I am a cart man myself get plenty of walking around the greens even with a cart

Tbh I've done seated calf raises before and they don't do anything for my calves. Not a good exercise

They hit mainly the soleus which is comprised primarily of slow twitch fibers which don’t really grow much. I guess you could make a case that it might help for distance running by making those fibers stronger.🤔

Donkey calf machine is good, standing calf machine didn't do much for me. These days I only do standing barbell calf raises, works like charm

Back in the day we`d load up the seated calf machine.....do as many rep as posible, have our partners take weight off both sides,go to failure v\again,repeat and repeat until screaming.
That is the best way to get the most effectivenes out of one of thee machine..............tor turous continuous drop-sets.

Yup pellius has some great calf development that wasn`t a natural gift..........he worked hard to build them.

Dude's just short,he developed his calves because he always had to stand on his toes to see.
