To each there own. Although I don't understand how someone can believe they are biologically the wrong gender, I have no problem with it as long as it doesn't affect me. I am not sure how I'd feel if one of my kids, grandchildren or great-grandchildren decided they were transgender. It would definitely take some getting use to.
As for beauty contests and other traditionally gender specific competitive events, my personal feeling is transgender folks should compete against one another and not against biological males or females whichever the case may be. If were one of the female contestants in the Miss Nevada competitions, I'd be pretty upset if a transgender person was the winner. No matter how beautiful that person might be, they will never be a biological female.

This is hopelessly misguided… and my objection has nothing to do with hate or transphobia. It has to do with logic.
Beauty pageants are idiotic and anachronistic, but that aside, no male who decides to become a “woman” should be entering female athletic competitions, beauty pageants, or other spaces reserved for women. There are designated cultural spaces for women for a reason. There are scholarships educational pipelines specifically designated for women. Should a male to female transsexual be able to enroll in a women’s college? No. If you feel compelled to go from male to female fine… but you must recognize and accept that while your decision to do so is legitimate it is not normative and you do not have a right to every female option in the world.

My daughter and I were discussing this event this morning. She agreed that transgender women should not be permitted to compete in what is traditionally a female beauty pageant, such as Miss Nevada. This surprised me a little. I was expecting some push back as she is often more liberal about such issues than I am. She said there are loads of beauty pageants specifically for transgender women. I checked and there is more than a dozen. Miss International Queen is the largest of them with contestants from all over the world. Guess what? Biological females are prohibited from entering this contest. Hmm.
Valencia Fluchaire is the current reigning Miss International Queen. IMO, she is very attractive and probably deserves the title over the other transgender contestants. No matter how beautiful she is, she is not a biological female, so she competed in the appropriate competition. Nuff said.

If you want to accept the legitimacy of transgenderism on the basis that there's some sort of incongruity between brain and body (that is to say, their 'dimorphic brain regions' conform to their perceived sex) then on what basis do you oppose this? it's not like they have a clear biological advantage here as they do with competitive sports. If anything, they're at a distinct disadvantage. It's all fake tits and nose jobs anyway.
