Title: I thought this was a scam, but..
Post by: LurkerNoMore on August 08, 2021, 08:16:37 AM
Back in January I received an unsolicited letter in the mail from https://www.fltreasurehunt.gov/.  I saw "FL" and "treasurehunt" together and almost tossed it in the trash.  But instead kept it on my desk as scrap paper to jot down work notes and crap when I am WFH.  Was going to toss it a few weeks ago but instead opened it.  Saw that it was also listed as https://myfloridacfo.com/division/unclaimedproperty/home.

Long story short, I put my name in and found two claims listed for me.  One for the over payment of various taxes and fees in relation to my first property (condo) I bought here in Ft Lauderdale which I held 9 months and flipped before buying my current house and the second on an old Western Union refund I was due for overcharging of service fees.  I filled out the online claim form (basically just checking a couple of boxes) and sent it off thinking "oh well, it didn't cost me anything so if nothing shows up, I didn't lose anything."

Received a check in the mail yesterday from the state of FL for over $7K.  The exact amount these two claims added up to be.

Not sure if any other state has a website like this or not, but it would not hurt to look. I would suspect they do.   Especially for those who have bought/sold real estate, had multiple automobiles at the same time, etc...  and western union fees (but don't expect to get anything back for those fake names you used when ordering AAS from IP or Alin.  LOL)  I gave a friend the link and he found claims for him as well.  The check is on it's way to him now.

Worth a shot for some of you I guess.

This is why you will never ever be on the GBHoF ballot.  I mean, aside from the fact you are a dick sucking, death faking, estrogen laden beta cuck.

A sincere congratulations for your windfall!

Yes, most states have an "unclaimed $$ and propery" dept.
You were SMART to check your state web site to see if was a legit thing .
Most don't and end up sending info or "down payments" to some scam artist .

Enjoy your extra funds.  Any plans for the $$?

Yes, I've done this - found about 700 bucks.

One was uncashed dividend checks, other was something owed my dad from a utilities overpayment, which turned out to be impossible to prove with the documentation they asked for.

But agree, yes, it's out there.
