I’m surprised nobody has started a thread on the amazing decision to keep this turd calling shots
-
It's Cali, not surprised they want to keep him around.
He's driving the state into the ground and people are leaving like crazy.
Too many Libs to change the views of the state.
No hope.
-
it was obviously rigged, Nany Pelosi (his aunt) stepped in.
-
Weirdo State

The recall costs $300 million. All wasted. ::)
-
The republicans fucked up. They fought hard to get a recall but failed to actually have a decent candidate to run. Larry is a piece of shit idiot and it made people want to come out to vote against the recall. If they had a great candidate it could have switched.
-
Shocked that Cali wants that c unt in office.

Nope. California is just fucked up

That number keeps going up. Soon it’ll be a billion dollars wasted.
But what was going to be done with it anyhow? And what about all the man hours where people devoted all that time to collect signatures. Time is even more valuable than money.

The problem for Republicans is that piece of shit idiot is perfectly representative of the majority of Republican voters.

The insane process only requires signature from 12% of the voters in the last election
In this case that was 1,495,709
That's actually a smaller number of voters than Newsom's margin of victory in the last election
Can you imagine we could have a recall of the POTUS with only 12% of the voter?
At the end of every election the party that lost would immediately initiate a recall process

Yeah.
I’m sure there’s going to be a law that’s purposed to increase that percentage to initiate a recall.
-
12% is silly.
Newsom should have resigned when he was busted at the dinner event.
Let Cali have him, and continue to devolve.
It's a shame though.

BFD
He made a mistake and apologize for it
That's what adults do when they fuck up
Clearly the electorate got over it
Trump did a thousand things worse than that and never apologized for anything and I don't recall you suggesting the he should resign

Fair point.
But you can’t compare the two positions. The President is the most prestigious position in the nation.
Has there ever been a politician that acted with class?
It’s like saying Biden should resign based on his cognitive function, but he’s not really calling any shots because as we are quickly learning the President is a figurehead position.

It's not a fair point, since most people can judge things on the basis of their own merit, and not try to draw equivalencies from others to justify bad behavior of their side. Trump's behavior had nothing to do with this situation.
Newsom didn't make a mistake. He wasn't caught by surprise attending a party he willfully decided to go to.
His mistake was he got caught doing something he knew was wrong, and thought he could get away with. It plainly shows the elitist mentality of what's good for you isn't for me.
And, don't forget, before he admitted he "made a mistake", he lied.

Thought about doing that and decided I didn't want to rub it in....Coach already has enough to worry about. ;D No doubt, he and Chaos are very unhappy because they wanted Newsom out.

It's looking more and more like finding decent candidates to run for political office is impossible. I'm not surprised. It is a thankless job.

Being President of the U.S. used to be the most prestigious position...but that was quite awhile back.

EDD fraud on Newsom’s watch was 100X that. The recall effort was worth it.

I think it’s a fair point in context, the elite think they’re above the laws. Trump would be among the elite.
There no question Newsome flaunted his elitism and a better than thou attitude with his actions, but expecting him to do the right thing and resign…. That’s a character trait we don’t see today in any area of life.

You can't tie everything that happens in politics to "but Trump". It's deranged.
I didn't expect him to resign, he's a typical liar politician.
But it would have been the right thing to do.
I accept that all politicians lie, however, the context around this one was worse, as it was at the height of a pandemic. To me it's similar to when Clinton looked the public in the eye and denied Lewisnski - there's general bending of the truth, but then there's showing complete contempt for your constituents and straight up lying for personal gain.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I am trying to understand the rational for someone blowing off what Newsome did. In context of “so and so”, in this case Trump, did this, I get the argument.
What is really concerning is the point brought up in to his thread, that people only vote their party regardless. And we see that with these arguments. Newsome was wrong and he lied. But the response is your party overlooked your guys actions. Choosing sides like this is a sports game.
