So if no one can afford to buy these apartments at current rates but prices still won’t come down the only logical explanation is the state is keeping this market propped up.

It's what happens when the lies are 10 levels deep and everything is fake. Even the govt can't fix 10 people thinking they own the same unit.
When things go awry is when they will go to war, IMO.

The government owns the land, leases it, builders put crap buildings on it, Chinee citizens buy them and play hot potato, and the buildings fall down.

They’ll have to go to war eventually. Their political system is more like Nazi Germany, and they had to go to war to keep their economy going.
