Superior fighters than UFC. Today's MMA fighters couldn't cope with this level of aggression and constant striking. And don't even start about BJJ or Royce.
-
They'd be taken down in two seconds.

Actually, no. They wouldn't.

Brutal if true

UFC fighters have too much all around skills.A fighter like Khabib would pull these guys down and they would never get up.

No. Khabib would pull down another UFC fighter. These kickboxers from the 70s and 80s were a different animal. Khabib would hobble out with a broken jaw.
-
Let them try that stuff against Martyn Ford

It would not be pretty but it would be just like when Khabib fought karate man Edson Barboza. At some point he gets him to the cage then wrestled him down and then they spend the whole fight trying to get up.If they ever do get up they are too tired to fight anymore .Hey I have a lot of respect for these guys but mixed martial arts is a mixture of fighting styles and you can’t just be a striker

it was awesome, yes! It evolved for 40 years to this:

???
If you showed me a video of Muhammad Ali or George Foreman or Julio Cesar Chavez and told me that back then boxers were better I might agree with you.
For UFC it's different. There's progression in the fighters every year. Champions doesn't lose because they get old or are less hungry. In UFC the fighters reach new levels and new layers are added each year and it's crazy. Most actual champions are better than the champions in previous era. Aldo was great, Petr Yan is just on another level of greatness.
You'd take a look at Kamaru Usman and he is almost a perfect fighter but then you look at Chimaev and think that his reign and greatness maybe won't last more than a year.

Actually, yes, they would, but might take 30 seconds.

You need to know BJJ, wrestling take downs; take down defense as well as striking today. We have champs in the UFC that are better in one discipline like striking or wrestling but all need both to compete.

Did you blow time/money on BJJ classes?
-
It was fun watching kickboxing in the 80's but those guys couldn't box at all. There was a guy close to where I lived who was the US champ of the ISKA and he usually trained in boxing gyms to give him a huge advantage.

Yes, I trained with Renzo Gracie and Craig Kukuk. I also boxed. Truth be told I was a better boxer than a BJJ guy.
Full contact karate champs were exposed back in the day by Muay Thai fighters. The karate guys were ill prepared for low kicks. They had no defense and didn't kick in the muay thai manner of using their legs as clubs so to speak but snapping from the knee joint. They also punched in combinations while the muay thai generally waited for a power shot opening that rose from their kicks.
Like I said you need a well rounded game today. If you think BJJ is bull shit go to a good dojo and join for a trial month or even a day. I'm sure it will be an eye opener. This is where a guy post on this thread he is undefeatable in the street with his secret eye gouges and ball grabs. I think more arm chair tough guys would be have their egos crushed if they joined a boxing gym or a BBJ dojo. They would spend many sleepless nights after doing so.

Surprised it took so long to learn how to defend low kicks. You can learn in one workout session.

BJJ is useless on the streets. No way to deal with multiple attackers. Only response you have is "go into a BJJ dojo and challenge the instructor. " *yawn*

All things are useful.

The point is not BJJ is useless... Knowing only BJj or boxing or wrestling is useless when you deal with a round fighter. Take a guy like Oliveira or Khabib, these guys are deadly in a street fight, even if against multiple opponents.

The only thing that everyone here can agree on being useless is you. That is all.
-
Defending yourself on the street likely won't require the skills of a champion cage fighter.
An eye poke and kick in the balls can take you far.

GSP is coming from a Karate background, do you think he'd be one of the GOAT if that's the only thing he knew?
I hope you cross path and provoke some crazy Brazilian mma fighter and he breaks your arms using basic BJJ skills. These nice guys from dagestan also can change your karate perspective.

You need to see some Bill Wallace fights. Who by the way was undefeated.

I saw Wallace fight in the 70s in his prime.
Wallace was a high school wrestler and has trained in bjj over the years.
Great kickboxer but in his prime days against a top wrestler or bjj Guy and with his bum leg I don't he would stay up.
It's been shown many times that those untrained in ground fighting get killed in cage matches.

I'm sure he's not useless when it comes to handling the cock.
