Why would he let himself shrink into a shadow of himself?

He became skinny

He's out hiking and running with his dog while living on a private island with his husband....while most bodybuilders are just dying.

I think sucking Bob's cock was on Hard Fasts bucket list. He wanted the jacked version of Bob so imagine his disappointment.
-
Vince, would you like to spend your days on a private island fucking a twink like Vissy's tight little ass?
-
That picture is like 10 years old.
-
He looks great there. No homo
-
He’s headed for Twink Lake!
-
He's out investing and smoking high end gas station cigars with his dog while living on a private trailer park with his husband, Vissy....while most bodybuilders are just dying.
-
So many examples of guys going completely clean off steroids and losing it all. In his defense he looks healthy like a runner.
-
He looks healthy. On a related point, I've noticed that bodybuilders who lifted heavy and focused on the basic exercises look a lot better for the most part when they age/and come off the juice and have reasonable size (you know they were bodybuilders). Though I think the aesthetic look is the best, those who shape train (Zane, Demay, Paris, etc) seem to look like runners at best.
-
Off drugs they go back to their natural state.
It's called the "Clark Kent Effect".

-
What does he look like today?
I feel sorry for the rich schmoe who wife'd him. Thought he had a top tier specimen but ended up with a low test twink
No telling, last i spoke with him was like 5 years ago when he was doing that Gravity show. He had shut himself off from the bodybuilding world but i believe he's pretty much gone into semi-retirement. He has a few million not from bodybuilding but from public speaking on his Gorilla Suit book...he made a ton of money on that. He only speaks to a very private circle. Doesnt even post on his blog. Given that he's in a remote area, i think he wants to be left alone
-
Vince, would you like to spend your days on a private island fucking a twink like Vissy's tight little ass?
No, im enjoying my life here in Piedmont along in a few years , ill be dividing my time here and in Texas vacationing just running my businesses rather than working a full time job. The property i have that was practically worthless years ago can now be lived in thanks to solar and rain collection along with some new innovations. I'll just hang out a few weeks and just take my vacations there

Sounds like he is living a good lifestyle and his physique in the downsized photo is one many would like to have.

Why do some people expect RETIRED bodybuilders, especially ones in their late 50s/early 60s, to be the same size they were 30-40 years ago?
-
Why do some people expect RETIRED bodybuilders, especially ones in their late 50s/early 60s, to be the same size they were 30-40 years ago?
they have an obligation to their fans

Did he let himself go or did he retire as a pro bodybuilder and put his health first?

^THIS^....Bunch-O Dummies
No gear, light weight training and or cardio, = the health look for Paris in my opinion judging from these pics anyway.
At 62 he look healthy.

AIDS is a hell of a disease
I'm surprised he made it through the 80's without contracting it.

When offensive lineman from the NFL retire they lose size as well having said that was never a fan of Paris the guy wasn't that big in his prime

he outsized you, and you're already in 'elite' status. B. Paris was all the way big dude
-
he outsized you, and you're already in 'elite' status. B. Paris was all the way big dude
Nope he was my size in his prime. 510 215-225lbs in his prime competing years in his late 20s early 30s
https://www.greatestphysiques.com/male-physiques/bob-paris/
I am currently 225lbs at 44 years old. I am also 3/4 of an inch taller. He was about 180lbs at my age
-
Most of the pictures on here of what he currently looks like are at least 5 to 10 years old, if not older. But he looks in great shape and good health to me. Just because he no longer does boatloads of drugs doesn't mean he's 'let himself go'
-
Why do some people expect RETIRED bodybuilders, especially ones in their late 50s/early 60s, to be the same size they were 30-40 years ago?
Because Bodybuilding forever and ever is a fairy tale ..... And most fans of this "sport" are delusional .

He has bigger legs than me my upper body is every bit as big and again he is in his late 20s competitive prime in that pic. I am 44 years old and just as heavy and as lean structurally he wins because of his legs but upper body he isn't very big. Also at my age he was 180lbs and had been for a decade. My point also was that he wasn't big for a pro bodybuilder he was my current 44 year old size in his prime. He was 180lbs by his mid to late 30s

You are easily bigger than most bodybuilders from the 80's Brian. Don't let anybody try to say you wouldn't have dwarfed the guys in this pic!

Oh lawd, I wish Pellius could see this. ;D

Yes because unlike you I am single digit bodyfat the guy was my size when he competed not big for a Pro. He was 185lbs by his mid thirties. I am currently 44 years old and 225lbs longevity also counts. Paris was overated small arms small shoulder girth small waist decent legs he would be a Classic physique competitor today. But yeah by the time he was 35 he looked like shit
-

Arnold is the only guy taller than me in that photo I would be the 2nd tallest and heaviest guy in that pic

Why would he let himself shrink into a shadow of himself?
Because he is smart and because he's more interested in being in good health than being huge. He retired from bodybuilding in 1991. He has a quality life. He and his partner Brian LeFurgey have been together since 1996, married since 2003. His 2021 net worth is estimated at $8 million.

No. Only today counts. Did you squat 405 for reps today or not?

Paris is not 44 years old in that pic. Do you think I looked like a beat up old man when I was 25? Also I was 205lbs on stage sick as a dog. I am walking around over 225. Again the point wasn't about me vs Paris the point is he looked small on stage compared to other Pros why because he was my size which is not very big
-
No. Only today counts. Did you squat 405 for reps today or not?
I squatted 315 today training not straining. What did you squat today?

Great shot, everyone in this photo trained & juiced but Bob is just thicker all around. He was not a "small" pro, bigger than Arnold I'd figure. Not better, but Bob held more muscle on his frame
-
I squatted 315 today training not straining. What did you squat today?
I did back and shoulders today. I did not squat. I also didn't brag to the board that I would be doing 405 for reps and then refuse to admit I couldn't.
How are you training not straining if you felt your disc herniate and nearly blew out your knee doing 315 x 3? You should just admit you were wrong about 405 and train for the mass that you want instead of your ego.
-
Bhanks physique > Bob Paris’ physique.

If I am squatting 315 for reps after half a dozen sets I can max 405 fresh for a rep it's not that much more. The disc herniated 15 years ago it is just flaring up. The knee and back bother me whether I am just standing up and walking or squatting tomato tomato
-
Bhanks physique > Bob Paris’ physique.
That is not what I said what I said was he was my size at his largest which is true that makes him a small Pro he was never a mass monster and yes I destroy him if we compare after he retired in his early 30s. He was 180lbs by the time he was my age. His last contest was 1991 when he was 32 years old by 2003 when he was my age he was 180lbs soaking wet.

I am saying he was my height and weight in his competitive prime which is not that big he was never a mass monster. He also retired at 32 years old.
I was never trying to compare myself at 44 to him on stage at 25. But if you guys want to be dicks about it that yes if we compare him at 44 years old to me at 44 years old I would absolutely destroy him. He was 185lbs 5 years after he retired at the age of 32. He looked like he hadn't been in a gym for a decade by the time he was 44 years old.

Bhanks....he retired, stopped using gear and cut down his size for acting roles along with wanting to live a much healthier and spiritual life with nature. If he continued bodybuilding , you would have been puppy chow. Its like you comparing yourself to me....competed drug free and not since 2009
Its like saying I can drive faster on the road than Richard Petty.

He wasn't wearing elbow sleeves. Clearly the cause of his downfall. Hanky is able to train harder in later years because he has always taken the proper precautions.
-
I looked at his photo book "Duo" with his partner Rod at a bookstore when it came out (looking around constantly to make sure no one was looking; no homo) and the last photo (I think) was of them walking in the woods like on a hike and Paris looked incredible. I remember thinking that's the look I wanted. He wasn't as big as in the other photos but looked great in clothes and not like a freak.
-

Dude liked man juice but great physique ;D

it is pretty (is shocking the right word?) when such bodybuilders like paris and others when they retire, look like they never lifted a weight in their entire lives or get fat. How the mindset changes polar opposite? from one end of the scale to the opposite end...If they have injuries and chronic pain and/or really old, i can see that but otherwise?
I saw a recent photo of bill davey, natural bodybuilder, musclemania champion and physique model, who in his mid 50's now and WAS a highly sought and expensive personal trainer, i do not believe he trains anyone anymore and has his own business.. anyway, in the photo Davey looked to have a big ole gut, like a beer gut! how does a former mr. america and very successful fitness/bodybuilder model let himself go like that? doesn't care about his reputation? at least he should and should know he should care about his health!..
anyway, anyone know what gear paris was on and low, average, or high amounts?...

You and I are the same age. Who do you think you should be compared to??? What kind of handicap do you need? You want to be graded on some kind of curve for fat asses? Does being drug free cause obesity now? Should I be worried I have been off HRT for 4 months why am I not obese like you yet?
-
If you read his book Gorilla Suit then the reason why Paris now looks like Paris is easily explained.

No one knows what anyone is or isn't on everyone lies every idiot that claims they personally know so and so was only taking 1cc of XYZ is a godamn fool. Even the athletes themselves do not know what they are actually taking everything is underground mislabeled over under dosed and counterfeit even the stuff purchased in a pharmacy

Until you win some major bodybuilding show, dont ever compare yourself to Bob

And ?? So Fucking What , He had a very good overall physique proved by placing very well at the Olympia.
No i'm not a Bob fan at all - just cant deny he had a great build.
His height & weight when competing are not relevant as its Judged on how well he looked
compared to his competitors.

It is relevant when we are discussing if he let himself go by getting smaller post retirement. All I was saying is that he was never 250lbs to begin with I wasn't claiming I could take him in a contest in his 20s but yes dude was my size at his biggest. He didn't lose that much size he was never a 250lb mass monster. But yeah I am going to give myself some credit I think my 44 years old beats his 44 years old.

Totally irrelevant - have you thought for one second he is no longer interested in having a good physique ?
A pond yo a penny that if he was hed quite possibly look a lot better than You.
Hmmm, I'm 61 & around 235/240lbs very low body fat at 5'6.5 Does that make me beats your 44yr old physique ? By your Thinking Clearly it does.

Bodybuilding has, for many years now, seen a great increase in its number of competitors, along with a concomitant surge of competitions, the vast majority of which are nothing more than cash cows that attract some top people, but, more importantly, enough of a critical mass of ordinary and sub-ordinary “talent” to be worth the trouble of producing.
Some of these sub-/ordinarians compete for pure reasons, they love the activity required for competition, it’s fun, it offers routine, a goal, perhaps even fitness, and remain humble by knowing their true place in the bodybuilding hierarchy. Others, however, are mentally fucked up by deeply buried insecurities that work to catabolize their anemic souls, with the inverse result that delusions anabolize their now, out-of-touch, bigger heads.
However, the reality principle works to mitigate the pleasures of pure fantasy. Yes, they will hear, you won a trophy; yes, you have photos of posing and receiving an award; but, inevitably being forced to confront a blow to their figments, they will also hear, you don’t look even remotely close to a REAL champion.
Ouchies.
Well, they will say in return, smarting from the prickling truth, we are just as big, or just as cut, or just as tall, as some of these champions were on stage.
As if it matters.
But then, it does matter, obviously, to sub-/ordinarians.

If ever there was a Getbig term...."blow to their figments" of peace. ;D

No because you are probably built like a troll. The guy stopped training in his mid 30s and lost all his size before he was 40 deal with it

you make it sound like he was careless.
He retired and became a normal person, it happens to everyone once they realise that there is more to life than drugs, peachcobblers and shitty stools...

To be fair, hanky is so narcissistic and mentally ill that he actually thinks he looks like that when looking into the mirror.
He doesn't see the trashed out, busted and torn up body he really has. Never mind the legs of a Chaparral.
He has openly admitted he is mentally ill and has psychological disorders.
The lust for attention he garners is from decades of mistreatment from his father. Now in his 40's, he is forced to make up for this by delusions of grandeur.
He is a legend to himself and that is all that matters.

Very well written, as always, Kahn.

To directly quote Robert Kennedy, “In the gym, in shorts and a string tank-top, NO ONE looked bigger than Bob Paris.”
Bob spoke those words directly to me.
Of course, I realize this was about three decades ago, but the point is made. Bob, with his relative tallness and proportioned mass, was a physical presence.
I also have heard he was considerably strong.
His phaggoting? It’s just gross, so I’ll leave that be. His initial ramblings about falling in love with that Rod flamethrower twisted my stomach.
As a person, I’d imagine Bob is a pleasant gentleman.
All the best to him.

Outstanding! Is there no sport that Jay Cutler can't master. ???

It is relevant when we are discussing if he let himself go by getting smaller post retirement. All I was saying is that he was never 250lbs to begin with I wasn't claiming I could take him in a contest in his 20s but yes dude was my size at his biggest. He didn't lose that much size he was never a 250lb mass monster. But yeah I am going to give myself some credit I think my 44 years old beats his 44 years old.
Absolutely agree Bhank. Your 44 owns the ever living shit out of Bob's 44. Welcome back. This places feels like get big again.
