I have a book about a hunter in Africa that was asked to help a village that was being attacked by baboons. I haven't read the book in 20 years but the monkeys killed some humans. I think this happened in the 60's.  He used a 9mm hand gun modified to shoot full auto with an extended magazine.  He said he was just mowing them down.

Now I remember the author. It was Peter Hathaway Chapstick.
