Title: Cringey GM Commercial
Post by: Palumboism on February 12, 2022, 06:15:01 PM: This commercial is going to air during the super bowl. Apparently GM is calling themselves evil because they make gas powered cars, but now they're no longer evil because they're going all electric.

This is the same company the federal government bailed out during the Obama administration. It's nice to see they're wisely spending their money on super bowl commercials in preparation for the next tax payer bailout. :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

I'm glad to see GM is saving the world with a 9000 pound HUMMER with 1000 hp. I miss the GM of the 1960's and 1970's where every car they made is considered a classic today.

I actually thing the EV Hummer and Silverado are great vehicles and I understand GM is trying to protect the profit they make from their CASH COWS, but going to this length to appeal to people who have no desire to buy their vehicles is sad.

And the raw materials all come from somewhere plus oil is still used to make all the components the plastic, everything. Then to top it off the energy to power it will still come from fossil fuels. They should be researching hydrogen or nuclear powered vehicles instead.

There's a guy in Germany who put a million miles on his model S. He replaced the battery once and three electric motors and that's it. Most people just don't understand how long these vehicles will last and why electric is such a game changer. It radically simplifies cars both from a manufacturing point of view and a maintenance point of view.

In addition, the simple design allows companies to radically rethink the packaging of the car resulting in cars which are huge inside and small outside.

In the future you’ll be taxed for driving a fossil fuel powered engine. You’ll have to pay a carbon tax, gas tax, extra registration costs etc. Government will make it non economical to drive one.

Like they tried to do with guns but we working their way around eventually.

you are correct though, there is little advantage to powering your car from coal or natural gas as is common in the West

I hadn't considered that, but it makes sense. I'm in CA, where progressive lawmakers come up with some of the most absurd laws, rules, and regulations.

There are advertisements telling us to power down between 4-9 pm. If the state doesn’t have the capability to manage the power structure as is how are they planning to handle all the electric cars? They have to have a better plan than charging higher rates.
