Looks more like a little blasting cap detonating. A flash bang is much more powerful than that and would have totally fucked him up at that distance, lol.

Fuck them. If crime was not as prevalent and the criminals were arrested and jailed, residents wouldn't have to resort to these measures. Too bad the burglar wasn't maimed or burned.
