Just heard about his death. I used to see him training in Golds Venice throughout the 90s. He trained his ass off. Nice guy. Kept to himself. Was always focused and came to the gym to train...and not fuck around. Tommywishbone can attest to this too...as we always would see Fred in the gym. Great actor. Loved him as Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff.

He had a role in a Robert Altman movie called Short Cuts which was pretty funny
In addition to his better known roles.

X2. Great flick and as a bonus it’s rated PG and shows tits when those girls are dancing. Bummer he pulled the door open too soon.

Loved him in Tremors. Very cool to hear he trained hard. RIP!

Mention this in another thread -
Fred Ward's best role was as Charles Willeford's Hoke Moseley in "Miami Blues". It's too bad they didn't do more movies based on that series of books, but I guess it was just too quirky a character -
.
Full film, well worth the watch.

Major bummer.
Fred was indeed just so cool. Always stopped to chat. Always a big smile.
He clearly loved the gym. Saw him training 5-6 days per week for years at Golds Gym Venice. Then down to the Firehouse for a good meal.
PIP Fred Ward.

Damn! Awful news. :(
He was fantastic in Road Trip - he looked extremely robust, despite him being almost 57 when that movie was being filmed. He would have been 80 in December, but didn't seem old at all.
He was also in a 1990's computing hacking / green energy movie with Keanu Reeves that came out in 1995 [I forget the name], and was very good in it.
He definitely looked like he lifted - but I had no idea for sure until this thread.
RIP Fred.

PIP Gold's Venice regular!

Don’t know a lot about him, but Tremors is one of my all-time favourites, and his character is awesome, and he in the role.
Just gave off a cool vibe.
Knowing he enjoyed working out makes him that much cooler.
Hail to Mr. Fred Ward.

That's the one! Thanks Gregg!
To be honest, I had never heard of that movie. But I've been using Odysee more and more lately [as YouTube continues to censor], and I caught it on there. Fred did a good job in that movie, and IMO, it's worth watching:

A friend used to train Ward in martial arts. He said that he had a sneaky left hook – must be from his boxing days.
R.I.P.
