I have reduced lawn mowing frequency by a few days and combined trips in my car.
Same stuff I did last time gas was high.
-
I've been waiting for my loyal Mexican landscaper to raise prices, but he hasn't since I moved in 3 years ago. Great man
-
my landscaper raised prices
so i bought a car with twin turbo V8
lurker would be proud
-
No. Waiting for my 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 BMW M5 to be delivered.

electric car...
but it's only a matter of time before my goverment starts taxing batteries or electricity even more, to cover up for the tax loss when the majority starts making the swich. Which they have also but electric cars are still alot more economical because of the heavy gas taxation. Got to stay one step ahead.
-
I sell my drugs at a higher price.

coal powers your "electric" car
until people can actually afford to buy electric its not going to happen. i dont see it ever happening. especially now with the destruction of the middle class

hydrypower and nuclear are 75% where Im from... Anyways I do it for the economical benefits, not enviroment, as electric cars are cheaper in the long run at present time.

Yeh you do! You’re freaking killing me man! 😁

I’ve got bills to pay and I need to eat too!

Coffe creamer went up to $4.51.
Skipped buying it!

My yacht is in the dock right now and I only fly in my private jet twice a week.

they have to hike the tax on fuel now because once we get to net zero there will be no gas tax, it wont exist.
Wonder where they are going to make up the shortfall
Half the cost of fuel in the UK is tax
If they cut the tax now it would encourage people to travel and spend money and as such raise money through VAT on goods
They may as well get used to not having the tax from fuel sooner rather than later
But that wont happen because we know there will be no net zero, it wont happen, they will abandon it in 10 years and we will have all been taxed to death anyway
-
Pussies my private jet flies multiple times a day no matter what the cost.

I live like a homeless person. I have a $120 3+ hour round trip commute, so I sleep in my truck, live on tinned fish, shit in the portaloo, bathe with a rag, and do calisthenics on the building site. Home once or twice a week.
Tbh I used to do the same thing when busy just to avoid the road time. But I refuse to pay $7,8,900 a week in diesel. So I live like an animal.

I have a blacked out Kia Telluride and love it. 25 mpg with 87 octane is a nice perk for a 3 row SUV at the moment. Also, can’t beat the warranty 10 year/100,000 mile warranty.

I believe it’s 5 yr/60,000 miles for the bumper to bumper. After that, it’s powertrain warranty

I believe it’s 5 yr/60,000 miles for the bumper to bumper. After that, it’s powertrain warranty
Ok.
New cars usually have a 3 year B2B warranty.
Subaru's have a 3 year/36,000 mile B2B and 5year/60,000 powertrain warranty.
Ford has a 3 year 36,000 B2B 5 year/60,000 powertrain which cover the transmission which is likely what would go.
I've never heard of a driveshaft failure on a car in my life.

Just look at all the models top to bottom, each car company has pretty much the same model
Audis are just an expensive VW

bingo
not just that but they're depreciating assets. I drive an older Honda I can repair myself, I'd rather invest my money than spend it on a monthly car note
-
Not bad looking....until you realize it's a Kia.
Then you realize you’d have to trade in 3-4 of your car to afford this Kia. So very brutal and so very true.

That's what makes it even worse. They used to be a value brand, now they want luxury car/suv prices for a KIA.
No thanks.

KIA makes some good looking cars and the warranty is great.
I would consider one but the nearest dealer is 40 miles from me.
That would make any dealer service very inconvenient.

You guys don't get it. The Kia Stinger, thier sports car, is going for between 40 and 50k used. That's Ludacris money for a Kia. I don't care how it "performs".

I think the Stinger is a good looking car.
The base model lists around $38k but they do go up over $50k with the bigger engine.
Comparable in price to a Mustang.

It appears that you don't get it. In 2021, Kia did double the sales of BMW in the US, so it appears people are buying them. Meanwhile, you're driving an inline 6 thats over 10 years old, and will pay out of pocket for German parts that you can barely afford. The smart people unload their BMWs after the warranties run out for a reason. Almost everyday on the highway, I see a late model 3 series broken down on the side of the road along with its dindu driver shaking his head. Prestigious car you've got there :D

Of course more people are going to own a Kia than a BMW. Are you slow?
It's still a Kia. Why don't you buy a Hyundai while your at it.

You said they're too expensive. I gave you proof that the free market speaks for itself, but if you want to be slow and in denial about it, that's your problem. The funny thing is I owned your model brand new when I was in my early 20's :D Everybody (except Dindus) would gladly take a brand new Stinger over 3 of your 11 year old junkers. It's a classic poor person move buying a decade old luxury brand (no offense to Vince)

The inside of my car looks as up to date as the Stinger. Navigation, Bluetooth, etc....
Who cares if my car is a 2011. Did you see the picture? People make BMW E46s (older than mine) look fantastic.
It's not about the age of the car, it's about the condition and the look. Are you going to make fun of a musclecar from the 70's, just because it's "old"?
Vince's cars look like they came from an auction, mine doesn't.

every car uses trickle fown designs from mercedes and bmw
kia tries very hard to look like bmw
mercedes has beeb ahead for as long as cars have been made
every major innovation they created and allowed other car makers to use to keep people safe
i think mercedes is the best car you could buy today
most cars cost just as much now so why wouldnt you get the best of german engineering

all cars are made of the same fucking thing
Aston Martins used to have a ford excort dashboard
Just because it says Kia on it doesnt make it any less of a car than a top range vehicle
the Kia is half the price of the two cars in this video yet destroyed the BMW and was just eeked out by a hair by the Porsche

You're lucky.
I have a 2008 Chrysler T&C bought new. A notoriously piece of crap car model.
However, I got lucky and mine has been solid for 14 years.

(knock on wood) I believe in the lead foot theory for most cases. Some people just drive their cars into the dirt and/or don't perform the regular/ routine maintenance.

I have my groceries and most of my other goods delivered already and i work at home so im not really concerned on gas

That's true but some cars are just made like crap or overcomplex and super expensive to repair.
You have to go to a foreign car repair specialist or get ripped off by the dealers who think since you drive a BMW you must be flush and ready to be hosed.
If you can afford to fix them then more power to you.
The resale value of some of these cars is a joke.

No need for pics especially a stolen one trying to pass it as your own. I already experienced it in person 14 years ago. I even had the same champagne leather seats. Mine was faster though.

I've found buying stuff like that costs more. Doesn't make sense money-wise.
If you are a high-earner whose time is worth big money (doctor) then it can make sense.
For most people it's not a good move.
My time isn't worth sh*t so I go to the store and get the deals.

Ive leased for the past 19yrs and will continue to do so. Lease=0 worries

I'm not a car guy so I don't buy uber expensive cars. Never had an interest in cars like that.
Cars are strictly for getting me from A to B. They are a poor use of money. Depreciating assets.
I have always put my money to work making more money.
Expensive cars are expensive to repair. No getting around that fact.
Notice I did not say "don't buy a BMW or Mercedes".
I said if you must have one to lease a new one and then turn it back in while it's still under warranty.
That way you don't have to deal with the expensive repairs. All cars need repairs eventually.
-

If it makes financial sense for you then that is the way to go.

I’d never buy or lease an American made car again.
-
I'll take a Honda/Toyota any day.
Kia's aren't bad, they have made a lot of advancements.
Hyundai too, not bad cars.
People just associate them with people who don't have money, because they are cheap.
My GF's Hyundai is only two years old and is a good car. The interior is very nice, and the car drives great.
I drive an old truck, would never waste money on an expensive car anymore (i also have a Z06 Vette, but it was my goal for years to have one). I used to always drive really nice cars, but i learned years ago they are just a waste of money.
American cars are shit now too. My last two American vehicles were complete shit. I've only held onto my F150 because it's paid off. But it's had some very stupid problems that were expensive.
I've had two BMW 5 series in the last 10 years, both were leased through my work program. Decent cars, but expensive to maintain. One of them had some weird electronic gremlins and was in the shop every 5-6 months. Glad it was under warrantee.
People spend money on what they like, i'm a car guy but as i've gotten older i'd rather take $50k and invest it in my properties than buy a new car.
When i worked in oil and gas everyone had a fancy car, it was a way to show status. I always thought it was silly, but there are people who judge you by what you drive. That's a common mistake people make, to judge a person's worth by the car they drive.
-
My nephew, a CPA, very money conscious just pulled the trigger on a Telluride.
Nice. I really enjoy it. I previously had a 2015 vette to get the fast car out of my system then a 2016 Sierra Denali truck with the vette engine, but I now enjoy the smooth ride and 25 mpg. Must be getting older. Plus I didn’t want to go over $50K for a deprecating asset although it appreciated during its first year thanks to Covid. I can afford a nicer vehicle but only drive about 10K miles in my personal vehicle and rather have my money work for me instead of deprecate in the driveway.
-
Only soccer moms, drug mules, and transgenders drive SUVs.
Ok. So which one are you?
BMWs from any year are good. I'm not a BMW enthusiast. I just liked the particular styling of that car. I did own a 2000 328i years ago. Nice balance of sport and luxury.
I've had all sorts of cars. 350z, Challenger R/T, Lexus ES300, Jeep Patriot....new and used.
Do you go on auto trader and filter all models built for lesbians within a 25 mile radius?
-
Ok. So which one are you?

Hmm. I have not compared the costs over time, but the electric cars I checked into were considerably more expensive to purchase. Charging an electric vehicle at a charging station is currently more expensive per mile than buying gas. Charging at home cost less. Just how much less depends on the price per KWh your power company charges.
At this point, all things considered, it makes no sense for me to switch to an electric vehicle. There's a couple of reasons for this. Nothing is owed on my car. It has low miles and is in tip-top condition. And, I don't drive much. -Just reached 100 miles for the month as of today. This is more than usual because I was driving around checking prices at different stores for new refrigerator and I had a couple of appointments which were more than 10 miles from home. Plus, the weather has improved so I feel more like getting out of the house.

I've never owned a really nice car. I'd like to, I guess, but they just seem like a huge waste of money. I had a Civic Type-R for a little while in my twenties after giving my safe, saloon car to my mother to drive my nephew around in. The Type-R was a lot of fun. I'd love to get a Toyota GT86 next year but I won't really be doing much driving.
-
I'm not a car guy so I don't buy uber expensive cars.
Wise words. A luxury car is an accessory, if that’s what you wanna spend your money on go for it. Personally, I hate driving and spend as little time in my car as possible. I can work on my 06 Honda by myself, and I can go to an independent mechanic and use aftermarket parts for the rest

its funny o see the older guys say cars dont matter and be practical
and its always the guys who say buying a car thats overpriced and a money pit is only because they never could earn enough to buy one themselves
if you earn enough disposable income, buying a nice car isnt a sin, its just part of life and making your goals happen is important.
funny how broke people always adopt the monk mentality

If driving an expensive foreign car is important to you then go for it.
Just do it in the smartest way possible.

Cars never mattered to me, zero interest in them.
Goals?? Cars arent my goal.
My house and 4 cars have been paid off for over a decade, again, money has zero to do w/ it.
Ive been an IT Security/Network Engineer for over 25 years, so we can just say I do well money-wise.
Now guitars, those are my interest and I have over 10 nice ones. Those can cost more than a car might.
Everyone has different goals and hobbies.

This right here. Owning your home=winning. I bought an expensive car once about 15yrs ago. After 2 weeks all I could think was what a waist it was. Like you said everyone has different goals, it's just not my thing. I race motocross and dump endless amounts of money into racing a machine I beat the hell out of lol

Tell us about your guitars, man. I noticed the amplifier in the photo you posted previously. I've got a customized Telecaster and an old Epiphone SG these days. Never have much time to play but I'd like to stick some humbuckers in the telecaster and eventually completely rebuild the Epiphone. I've had it since I was a kid, so I think it would be cool to keep it looking a bit beaten up but replace all the parts.

That’s not true at all.
I make between 40-45k a year. I can afford a nice car. I just chose not to.

I invest like most Getbiggers in yachts and private jets.

Disagree. Many moneyed people don't buy fancy cars.

Agreed. I feel like most middle class people who make a little bit of money like to make it seem like they have a lot and usually do so via their vehicle. Keeping up with the Jones is at an all-time high because of social media and a generation of non-savers. Sure their income is decent, but it’s going straight to that vehicle and credit card payment. You see it with $300K fishing boats in Florida as well. These people usually own next to nothing and their divorce records say so.

A nice Toyota Corolla with that salary. How do you even survive on that. Get a new job.
-

Really depends on their personality.
Some people want and crave the attention.
Some people don't.
I know some very wealthy people through work and they are a mixed bag.
But i can tell you that the people who have their shit together and operate their businesses the best are typically a little frugal.
A developer here that we do business with has more money than i will ever know. And he drives and old beat up Buick. Wears the same 3-4 shirts and the same shoes every single day. He's brilliant. Owns property all over town and just enjoys his life. Never stressed out and very easy to work with. We saved him half a million by doing some creative value engineering on one of his huge projects and he cut the owner of the company i work for a check for $100k. Crazy.
Another guy is younger with money, drives a Bentley with his company name as the license plate. This guy is a total douche nozzle and doesn't like to pay his consultants. But everyone in town treats him like a rock star. He has stiffed so many people on his development projects that he can't find contractors to build his stuff. Currently there is a warehouse project that has been halfway built, but the contractor and engineering team walked in December due to non-payment. Not a single contractor in this area will even talk to the guy. So he's a bit fucked, but doesn't care because he has money.
When i worked in Houston i knew the CEO of one of the largest Architectural firms in the USA. They do over a "billion" dollars worth of projects every year. He dresses really nice, but it's all cheap stuff. Drives a 4-runner. If you met him you would never know he's successful. Very quiet and soft spoken.
Typically the "show off" people are the types that lust for attention, which is apparent all over the world.
Just depends on how you get your rocks off i guess. I stopped caring what people think a long time ago.
If someone wants to drive a nice car that's fine, but to think this is a sign of success is quite stupid.
I know a lot of poor people who drive very nice cars.

The ghetto is full of peeps driving expensive cars and living in roach infested dumps. It always made me laugh to see it.
It was like that 50 years ago except then they drove Cadillacs. Now they drive expensive foreign cars.
People in general still are impressed if you have an expensive car so for a salesman or professional it can work to impress customers.

It's also because some people genuinely enjoy cars. A Ford Escort won't give them a boner.

Drive around the hood and you’ll see cars that are more expensive than the subsidized rentals they live in.

In college i lived in some really sketchy apartments in a dark part of town.
Back then it was all about Caddy's and Lexus sedans.
The parking lot was filled with nice cars with fancy wheels and shit.
Now i live in an expensive area and i do see a Land Rover or Merc in the area. But it's mainly normal cars and trucks. Jeeps are big here too. My neighbor has an old 1968 Camaro that is fully restored, but he drives a 15 year old Camry.

Owner of a multi-million dollar company I used to work for drove a basic volvo sedan as his daily driver. As for me, I'm also a car guy so I do spend more than common sense tells me to.

Deadz, I think you missed it, but Rory and I are on a break. It was sort of mutual but it still hurts. But now I will be able to save more money.
Rory and I might get back together—it’s still up in the air.

Rambone, yes and no. We still talk but of course things are much different now!

Disagree. Many moneyed people don't buy fancy cars.
Where I live there are a lot of pseudo-affluent folks who drive Tesla's and other overpriced vehicles because they believe it makes them look wealthy when in fact, they are bourgeois. One time when my grandson ordered pizza delivery the middle-aged fellow delivering it was driving a new model BMW. Who knew Round Table paid their employees so well.

Is this like one of those Hollywood divorces where the couple says they still love each other deeply and will remain the closest of friends?
