Toddlers grow very fast and eat like this. Bodybuilders copy their eating style so they can also grow very fast. It is the same reason why bodybuilders also increase their heart rates to 100 beats per minute.

That's the little guy from Pumping Iron all grownz up. He still can't get his fucking posing down. He's never going to be as tall as his dad is, and clearly will never be as wide as he is. Needs to read more books on weight lifting

I can't...I just ate a tuna sandwich on white and two pork chops, and I'm full as fuck.

I will force it down, but it's not getting easier yet.

I've had a small appetite since I was a baby. It's obviously genetic. And then I purposely kept it low, to not become obese.

The more you eat the more your stomach will expand and the hungrier you will get day by day. Stop eating what you think is healthy and start eating what you think you can get down you need to double your calories.

Try half a bag of low sodium baked potatoes, breakfast sandwiches and 4 slices of cheese along with a banana before you go to bed - everyday! You'll pack on weight easy and even with a small appetite you should be able to enjoy that on a daily basis. Oh wait you don't want to be obese - never mind!

I eat about 1200-1500 calories right before going to bed. I'll fall asleep in front of the TV and then get up, brush my teeth and go to bed for real. So technically I ate my last meal 1 hour before going to bed lol!  ;) Most people should be able to pack on pounds doing this. Basically you hibernate like a bear with a full stomach. I also sleep better with a full stomach and lots of carbs (and protein) to make me sleepy. Bananas are a great bedtime snack and I take one or two. Helps prevent hamstring cramps in the middle of the night. I have a large glass of flavored water in the bathroom. If I have to get up to take a piss I take a few gulps of that so I don't become dehydrated and end up with hamstring cramps rolling around in bed.

Anyway, I currently weight around 290-295lbs @ 6'-2" with good cholesterol and kidney levels. Weight fluctuates depending on how much I ate. If I go for a week with heavy eating I'll cross 300lbs no problem.

Screw light meal before bed. You're going to sleep and go without food for 8-10 hours. Make that the biggest meal of the day. Buck the trend and Stay Positive!

For a second, I thought you were talking about back in the days when some bodybuilders LITERALLY ate baby food, particularly during contest prep.

Again, I've been where you've been. If your appetite is poor, getting those needed calories from regular/solid food is darn near impossible.

A quote that stuck with me from the 80s, courtesy of the ex-husband of a certain 6-time Ms. Olympia, "If you're having a hard time getting enough calories, despite stuffing yourself, then it's time you learned the real secret to gaining weight: Liquid Nutrition!".

Another from the 90s, Zulak-style, "It's much easier to bring 1000 calories and 50 grams of protein than it is to eat it."

Or, as the Awesome One, Lee Haney said in that video, "You can't train like a horse and eat like a bird!"

Plus, if you have a high-calorie/high-protein shake right after your workout, you'll digest it in no time and may often find yourself FAMISHED within 90 minutes of consumption.

I think Matt's key to getting in extra calories is to drink them, a lot easier than eating them.
Use a shake that has real food in it, oats, bananas, PB, Whey, milk, eggs etc..

A blender full each AM, put it in the fridge, have a drink w/ each meal throughout the day, etc. His 2 K calories will easily be 4K... (eat 2K, drink 2K).

==

Whey protein powder (2 scoops)
Full cream milk or any other milk of your choice (2 cups)
Steel-cut Oats (2 cups)
Bananas (2)
Peanut butter (2 tablespoons)
Honey (1 tablespoon)
Blueberries (1 cup)
Raspberries (1 cup)

Imagine these guys going out for a meal on a date

Slumped over the table shoulders hunched over head down shovelling the food in after asking the chef to chop it up for them like their mom did as a toddler

Kai cant even use a knife and fork properly

I have some serious questions.

Lifting weights and the light cardio they do, does very little for fat loss. How do they not carry around a ton of fat?

Do they not actually eat like that when the cameras are off?

Does the insane amount of gear simply make getting fat that much harder?

Is Bhank delusional?

You eat like a civilized person when you're on a date; you inhale the chow, when your sweetheart is gone.

They eat on a date, just like regular people. There's a difference between social eating and bodybuilder eating. I used to do that back in college. A girl I liked finished her classes at 5:30 pm and would ask me to save her a seat in the cafeteria (as this was usually when it got crowded). My classes ended much earlier; so I would go there 45 minutes before she got there, inhale food like no tomorrow, clear my plates and when she arrived, I'd have a small salad and half a sandwich.

She never saw the carnage I inflicted earlier.

Same thing occurred on one of my Valentine's Day dates. Two hours earlier, I inhaled my regular food like a neanderthal. When we went to the restaurant, I had a salad and a small entree; and, we spent the evening at the restaurant in conversation.

I use meal replacement shakes to increase my calories and protein.

With regular food I would struggle to eat the same calories, if it's reasonably healthy/quality food, and feel too full.

The consensus is to "shake it but don't break it" to gain weight.
