Heard radio previews - sounded cool.
-

-
I saw the preview looks pretty good.
-
I’m almost done with the second episode. It’s very cool so far. I like how the backstory started unfolding this episode.
-
Let me know when it makes a list
-
Realistically done, jeff puts up a good fight but is never just throwing guys around. The fella playing the young version is a dead ringer
-
Jeff Bridges is an old man for sure.
What's the show called?

Sold my television when Elvis died.

Watched the first episode last night. I think I get the gist of it.

I'll bet the show will get old fast.

I'm already there after one episode

Hawaii's statehood should be rescinded and they should pay the US for protection from China. It's nothing but a liability. Tourist dollars just go to private operations and any tax revenue is a drop in the bucket compared to defense costs and 'social programs' for the indigenous people, who are irretrievably indigent and, surprise surprise, suffer from alcoholism and substance abuse issues, so we have to give them a portion of our earnings so they can sit around being fat and drunk all the time.
Hawaii was a mistake. Mahalo for fucking off out of our union, Hawaii.

Lots of twists and turns in the third episode...
...Enjoying this so far...

I concur! Great show writing and I’m loving the angle he has with his 2 dogs.

Except.... he has two rotties... he lets them out of the SUV and they run to some hidden place, watch while he fights with the guy and then only appear when the Old Man whistles... pretty unrealistic. but to your specific point about the fight itself, pretty good.
-
I am not old enough to watch this series.

Or are you not young enough Prime? For you the series may be called "The Man" since he's not "Old" to you. ;)
Or to me either now :P
-
Yea i did wonder where they went and why didn't he whistle sooner. But maybe he only whistles when he's screwed.

Did he whistle in the last fight? I think the woman let them out of the car.
-
Yeah, I think she did. I like Amy Brennahan…. First got noticed in the classic “Heat”.
But is she in the trunk in the closing scene?
Is she still alive?

I read the book the series is based on years ago but they change stories when the get to TV or the movies.
I'm guessing she's still alive.
-
She let them out of the car. Also I think they were more or less ready to go on their own in the first episode fight with the second set of henchmen.
Quite liking the show, also like that they're keeping it to six episodes, and not stretching it out for ratings.

I may not be as far as you guys. The fight I'm talking about is when he is being followed, takes off down a dirt road, leaves the tracker in the middle of the road. They get out and he ambushes them with his vehicle. Lets the dogs out of the back seat and they disappear. He shoots one I think and the second engages him in a fight. Ultimately after a few minutes overcomes Bridges and puts flex cuffs on him. At that point Bridges whistles and the dogs come charging from down the road to the rescue

You have a valid point. Jeff Bridges is six years younger than I am. If he were still alive, his father Lloyd Bridges who died in 1998 when he was 85 years old would be an old man to me. Are you old mature enough to have watched the television series Sea Hunt which first aired in 1958 and ran for four seasons? Both Jeff and his brother Beau appeared in Sea Hunt and later the Lloyd Bridges show.

Nope, I was born in the mid/late 60's... Never saw it, though I did hear of it.
This show (Old Man), we watched the 1st 3 episodes and I'm liking it so far.
Not much else is on these days anyways. (I have no cable-TV, just a few streaming platforms).
Hulu is playing the FX show now...
The commercials though on Hulu, so horribly woke 24x7 is brutal. Oh well **shrug**.
Trying to not let that crap bother me anymore, its with us for life. Also Prime, an apology to you for some of my posts to/about you.
Uncalled for.
New, kinder Gym-Rat ;)
Now, back to the regularly scheduled program..
-
Looks like dogs are trained to not bark so burglars and assassins don't know what's coming.
-
I stopped watching - did he train the dogs to attack the Manson murderers?
-
Watched it yesterday. Pretty good.

Thanks. I much prefer this Gym-Rat to the former one.
My son was born in 1966. He didn't get to see Sea Hunt either.
Guess I shouldn't mention that when I was a kid, I watched Hopalong Cassidy when I got home from school. It was a hoot!
LOL, May I call you 'Sonny' instead of Gym-Rat from now on?

Nah, old people say "Sonny", you're young at heart...

Looks like one action or fight scene per episode now and alot of chat. Its ok, gangs of london is still the best action series
-
So this series has become extra boring, done episode 5 now, no action since episode 2. Long boring dialogue about the past, boring flashback scenes, essentially now a drama without any drama, just pure talk. Time to ditch.

All of a sudden the lonely widow has turned into a total sadistic mastermind. She thought up this whole devious plan to take his fortune in the few hours he was gone. Um Yeah.
-

Go back and watch her walk or run. She is so wide hipped and bow legged that it is a total turn off.
I’d probably still crank one out on her forehead though.

This show has moments that are great, but overall it's very poorly written.
I'll probably finish it anyway.
-
Episode three was awesome and six was really good but I hate being left with a cliffhanger >:(
-
Finished season.
Liked it a lot, good twists.
However, was hoping it was a one and done, like zerozerozero.
Nope.
-
Show got LIT for me (Long in-the Tooth) 20 minute conversations with muzzies, etc.
Not bad, but not good...
-
The conversations with them were an integral part of the big reveal in the last episode, so didn't bother me.
Plus, Bridges can only kick so much ass at his age.

Liam Neeson says: "Hold my beer".

The show had good moments, but to me was very slow and poorly written.
I felt it ended weird too.
The overall story is fantastic though.

Hmmmm. The show was poorly written, but the overall story was fantastic.

Exactly.
Plot versus execution.

No it's not.
You're just stupid.

How the hell can you say a show was "poorly written" yet at the same time say the overall story was "fantastic"?
I would really like to hear you explain this.....

It DID end weird.
Or, I thought there'd be one big episode to wrap it up.
Nope.

Making Hawaii a state seemed like a good idea at the time. At least it was sold as such to the American people. The day to day reality turned out to be one of babysitting indigenous drunks and enlessly funding these worthless spam eating layabouts. A promising concept poorly executed.
-
Lithgow and Bridges, talking about how "Shes my daughter" in a car for 30 mins, was mind-numbing...
Not good...
-
I stopped watching it when his dead wife appeared in the bedroom

Opening scene? ;D
No, he had just banged the widow woman. I started to falter when he killed the 2 policemen in a dream sequence... but the wife appearing kind of ended it for me.

Bridges is in the Deadpool.

Ahh i remember.
The opening scene she was in the bathroom i think?

All the conversation set up the finale.
I think it was fine, but opinions vary.
