Well, this home is likely in a historical district so you have to practically keep everything the same although i wouldnt want to change anything
-
Is that his house that was near the Rouge?
-
The asking price is higher than the estimated value. Grosse Pointe is the primo neighborhood in Detroit. If I remember correctly, it faces Lake Michigan. Even with an inflated price, it is a bargain... if you don't mind living in Detroit. To get to Grosse Pointe, one must traverse Detroit's worst slums.

I toured the mansion when I was in university. Other Ford homes are in the area. The Ford name is all over Michigan. A national landmark. Had it's own powerhouse, mini play houses on the property. At one time it had 120 acres un Grosse Pointe, one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in all the U.S. The house is very dated. Each bedroom had a radio and scale, luxuries back then. The property is probably worth 100 million plus.

It blows my mind that I could drive 4 hours to Detroit, buy that house and live there. In Toronto, a house like that in a good neighborhood is 10 million U.S.

Detroit is one of the strangest cities I have ever been in. You drive in a bad area. It is rundown. You see beer, wine, lotto stores everwhere. You go one block, there is almost a divide. Then the next block is a nice area. When I hear the phrase wrong side of the tracks, I understand the divide. I once attended a function on the Kresge compound in Michigan, the family that owned K-mart. Big compound multiple homes, boathouse, lake, tennis courts, gym, mopeds around the property. A lot of money in Michigan.

Never knew there was much good areas in Detroit, just used to hearing so much bad about it.

Detroit has been Democrat run for 60 years. They fucked it up good. The had great manufacturing for 60 or 70 years. A lot of blacks from the South came into the city. Corrupt black leaders ran things into the ground. Democrats, strong unions, lazy workers, the overseas competition crushed them. The whites fled to the suburbs, the middle class blacks left as well. The tax revenue collapsed so they raised the taxes on those who remained. Detroit is a disaster. As far as safety, you know the democrats. They side with the criminals over the cops. This was once one of the most powerful cities in the world.
